Iowa's defense

The offensive struggles have been a focus, and they should be but we have yet to allow a team to shoot over 40%. Sure, the competition hasn't been great but last year, Iowa's craptastic defense hardly did this.

Chicago State, who was really, really, bad, shot 42% against Iowa. IPFW shot over 50%. Campbell shot over 60%.

If the offensive struggles are a product of youth and **** like that, and we figure out how to score, the defense has been encouraging.

Probably didn't help our offense that we focused so much on defense but it sure helped our defense.

One of White's comments after the Gardner-Webb game was telling:

“We allowed 18 points the second half,” Iowa forward Aaron White said. “Last year we just would have tried to put 60 on them in the second half.”

It's clear that they've learned to value a good defensive effort.

The defense has been great, especially tonight. The offense has struggled, but Ill trade that for the huge defensive improvement. Now just need to find some rhythm offensively

We will. We have a freshman point guard and guys playing new positions because of the depth.
