Iowa worst team in Big Ten?

Well I guess that's what some experts/computers think. I think I read our RPI at 168 with the next worst Rutgers 102. Losing at home to Omaha does wonders for you RPI. I guess I still think this team will finish in the upper half of the second division, but will be playing better than that at year end. Teams with size and ability inside (Purdue) should give us fits.
with that said I am still more optimistic for the future than I was 3 weeks ago and I think there will be some interesting games to be played this year

We're better than Nebraska, Penn State and Rutgers for sure. Maybe Illinois too?
 
It may go without saying here but I think Iowa is a bit better than what their computer #s say. I don't think Iowa will have a winning record in the BIG this year but I think we'll win some games people won't think we should. I don't think Iowa goes dancing in the big tourney but I think they should hopefully playing their best ball at the end of the year and do some damage in the NIT to springboard them to next yr
 
It's about as hard to list teams worse than us as it is to list teams better than us. A bunch of average teams.
 
I think it will play out that Iowa is better than Penn State, Illinois, Rutgers, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern.
 
Not the worst but Iowa will be in the bottom half of the B1G. But this team has talent, they are capable of a couple of upsets.

This team has botten half of the B1G talent this year. They have enough shooters where they can upset some teams but will have some frustrating losses too

They have top half talent - but the majority of it is underclassman, that will prove itself out over the next 3 to 4 seasons much like Fran's classes before them.

No. I can think of at least 7 teams that are more talented than us this year

Again, this is an OPINION. This is where you run into trouble by making blanket statements like your opinion is fact. It's not. Learn to have a civil discussion and you won't annoy everyone and their mother.

I'm responding to another poster saying a blanket statement that this is a top half in the conference talented team and if that is the case we wouldn't be an NIT team. Young, talented teams make the tournament all the time. I think it's pretty obvious to look at this team and realize it's not an overly talented roster, especially if you look at recent recruiting rankings and whatnot

Yeah, list em - and I'll point out the obvious - that none of them have this many freshman playing major rolls. Iowa has upper half talent that is not developed and that will show up in where they place over the next 3-4 seasons. Hell, they have a chance to finish in the top half this season
 
Outside of UW, Purdue, & Indiana I don't think anyone in the Big10 has head and shoulders better talent than us. Remember we have a potential player of the year candidate. I think our bench is probably one of the better in benches in the league.

A lot of these games will come down to matchups, hot/cold shooting nights, and home court advantage.
 
Iowa could have top half talent and miss the tournament - that happens all the time too - especially when it's core are all playing their first minutes of D1 hoops - this a tired argument with you.

Wisconsin, Purdue, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Maryland for sure. I don't know how you could even argue against those teams. Northwestern is a probable tournament team in my opinion, you could say they have more talent. Lindsey is a really good player for them and we wanted him bad. Vic Law was a big recruit and McIntosh is a real solid piece we also wanted. They start a freshman big guy in Barret Benson that a lot of people wanted, including us that will continue to get better too.

You don't think Michigan State has more talent than us? That can't be serious

UW, Purdue, MSU, TOSU, MD and Indiana - I could make an argument that all of these schools probably have more "talented" rosters in regards to just straight up recruiting rankings and being better basketball teams - BUT, that still puts Iowa in the top half and with EVERY one of those sans Michigan State maybe... having more seasoned and experienced rosters.
