I'll just start the thread now. Save someone the time in a couple months. Now everyone can **** and moan and say to take it one game at a time. Have some confidence and have some fun with it. A season like this doesn't come around very often.
 
Love it! What's awesome is someone can start a thread about this and not get laughed off the board. Has the potential to be a special year and it's not just kool-aid.
 
Stop this non sense! We should not be looking at anything but our next game Wednesday night at Michigan. If we look past Michigan we are looking at another 28 point defeat like last year.

Jon, please close this thread and ban the op.
 
I'm just glad we're talking basketball in a positive way.Took a few coaches to get there but We Have Arrived.Thank you coaches,let's keep it going
 
To think a few short years ago we were ecstatic about the possibility of going .500 in Big Ten play. What a difference a few years make.
 
Hopefully Barta is working on a contract right now that will keep Fran in black and gold for a very long time!

I love me some Hawks and really, really like the players he brings into the organization. Finding Aaron, Gabe and Anthony and his tireless pursuit to bringing in Adam and Mike have defined this team.

I love the job Fran is doing as well but I get nervous when coaches get locked up for a long period of time and if it goes south Iowa is stuck with a huge buyout.

Nature of the beast. If this season progresses like a lot of us are expecting then Fran needs to be locked up for a long time with a nice raise. Make him retire a Hawkeye.

I am comfortable with it too. Attendance is back, a top ten ranking is back and the national media is back on the Iowa bandwagon.

How is this different than what Ferentz has accomplished (twice)? I love Fran to death, but I don't want to see anything like a lifetime deal. Those are pretty ridiculous contracts and you shouldn't get one unless you prove yourself to be a Coach K/Izzo type of coach, IMO.

This is the way I see it. With kirk there was some red flags when he was winning that made me wonder if he was really a great coach or if he got a little lucky. With Fran he brings everything to the table. Brings in good players, good with player development, good with player retention, good at finding under the radar players, he's a players coach, and he plays a great style of basketball.

I know there are people who think the same of kirk but I didn't. I was always a little skeptical.

A lithium IV drip should be required for Iowa message board posters. We were "exposed" in the Bahamas and by ISU, now we're winning the BIG.
