Iowa will not finish 4-8 next season because...............................

Is Kirk Ferentz still the coach? Is Davis still our OC? If the answer to those questions is yes then 4 wins is our ceiling unfortunately. This past season showed me that those two have no desire for our offense to score points.

They had all the desire in the world to score points but they didn't put the players in the right position to score points.

There is a huge difference. The offensive scheme didn't make sense most of the year but that doesn't mean anyone lacked desire.

When we keep doing the same things that don't work all season long, and don't adapt to the players we have, then I do question their desire. If we lose and don't play well, but it's obvious we're making changes and trying to fix the problems that's fine. That didn't happen at all this past season.

I agree to a point but I think they wanted to score points. I think Ferentz might be giving GD a retractable leash. I think he lets him out all the way and then yanks him back. Their styles are so different I don't think Ferentz is completely comfortable and GD is trying to find a happy medium. Personally I don't think it is a good fit unless KF gives him full rein over the offense and lets him do what he wants. I don't see how the power rush and the constant short passing game are going to work together at all.

I wish GD wasn't coming back but he is and it sucks. Who knows maybe KF and the whole staff will come out on the same page and look better but I am going to wait to see it before I believe it.

But in the end I never question anyone in coaching's desire to score/win.

After this season I think most fans would learn to temper expectations and not consider too many games a gimme. I would like to think we could notch more than 4 wins but this team has a longggggg way to go.

The smart money (me) has been saying this since December. We win at least seven next year and play on B10 title game the year following.

LMFAO!

Seriously, King an Kroul anchored the Dlines in 2005, 2006, and 2007. You know the last time Iowa was on a three year slide? James Ferentz anchored the middle of the offensive line in the current downturn. You like little linemen on bad Iowa teams. They are good technicians, get off the ball well, but get overwhelmed by bigger better players.

Give me Bruce Nelson, Christian Ballard, Colin Cole, Babs, Roth, Eric Steinbach, Adrian Clayborn, and Mike Daniels.

whar Babineaux?

Freeds not a bad guy, In fact my guess is he is pretty smart. To smart to really think KF doesnt care. The problem with us fans is we make judgments often times without really knowing whats going on inside the program and KF doesnt give us much info to go on. Which leads to frustration and speculation

1) Weak non conference schedule and the clones will be very, very bad next year. I am predicting that Iowa will beat them and that the clones will win three games at the most next year. That's at least 3 wins right there.

2) I've said this before: The hawks will have to try very hard to have a worse offense than they had in 2012. Translation - the offense simply can not get any worse and if the qb is just ok, they'll beat at least two more games after the non con schedule.

I know I am surprising some as you may think that I'd pick them to do worse than last season.

Your thoughts?

PS: I am not a clone hater, but they are gonna be absolutely horrible next year. They lose so much.

Please, tell me more about how underestimating ISU ends up well for us time and time again.

You "LMFAO" at James Ferentz playing hard-nosed football? If you read Gamefilm's O-Line gradeouts, James played well and was rarely "overwhelmed by bigger better players."

Sure, on balance we'd like bigger linemen, especially at OG, OT and the interior D-line. No argument there. But Mitch, Matt and James weren't the problem on their respective teams. To say otherwise displays staggering football ignorance.

Iowa won't be 4-8 because Greg Davis's playbook will not have any surprises for Northern Illinois, Minnesota or Michigan State bince they now have film on him with Iowa. 2-10.
This is correct. Wishing that we will have a better season is not enough to make it come to fruition.
We'll be breaking in a QB who has NEVER taken a D1 snap. This is not a recipe for success. 2-10

Wasnt Mitch King ALL Big Ten two years in a row and DL of the year his Sr Year Enough said

^^^and wasn't it an all-american lineman from Wisconsin or Michigan who said King was the single most difficult player to scheme for in the B1G?

Exactly! The guys I listed were every hard nosed guys. Caar's list was great as well minus Mike Daniels as a full time starter. He was/is a beast don't get me wrong, he was a great hawk, but he couldn't handle playing as much as he was asked to do.

Mitch King was nuts, I was ****** when he cut his hair though. He looked like a beast with his long hair. I still believe he inspired Clay Mathews to grow his out.
