Iowa will be playing the best conference in America this year

I bet Cyclones17 has a different opinion. Surprised he hasn't jumped all over you on this one yet

I'm a Cyclone fan and there is no question that it's the best conference on paper. Who knows what could happen as the season goes on but right now it's a done deal.

Iowa's style of game will definitely be more unique in this conference. Complete opposite of Wisky and NW. Ohio St. and Mich. St. ramp it up quite a bit. I hope even if we lose a lot of games, at least they are interesting to watch this year!

The truth is not an excuse, it is reality.
This conference is loaded.
I think Purdue could make the FF still also,as Barlow is a stud that can take over for Hummell.

I wasn't trying to say it's not true. I just don't like it when any fanbase uses the "we play in a tougher league" card.

Due to the strength of the league, this team could be better than we think and still struggle against the top half of the league, but I think we can do some damage against the 2nd division.

I have no doubt we'll be more fun to watch than the past few years or so, and maybe even the last decade. Illinois might be willing to run with us, too. Not sure about Purdue, but I'm sure we'll have a few teams willing to play uptempo with us. How much we win, I don't know, but I do feel a little better about the team after a convicing exhibition win. I wasn't sure that we wouldn't come out and struggle a little with the new style, but test #1 seems to have been passed with flying colors. 111 points and just 10 TO's.

Next up, D1 opponents, then the Paradise Jam. Should be interesting.

My take on the league is that the top six will be tough, but their is a big gap with the bottom five. So Iowa will get slaughtered trying to play fast vs more athletic teams like MSU,PU,OSU,and Illini, while Minny and Wisky will just bludgeon the Hawks with blunt instruments.

Good news? The bottom 5 are beatable...at CHA anyway. Bad news? Do not get PSU at Carver. NW is a mixed bag and might be decent.

Ohio State does about the opposite of ramp it up. It will be interesting to see how this new fast paced Hawk team will match up with the rest of the conference. I am thinking it will be a lot like Keno's Providence teams who may not win, but they sure are fun to watch.

There's a lot more big east teams willing to run than big ten teams. I wouldn't be surprised to still see more 60-55 than 85-80 scores. Good teams dictate tempo, and teams like Purdue, Ohio St, and even N'western aren't going to get involved in a run and gun game just because that's how we want to play. Either way, Iowa should be a lot more fun to watch and score a lot more points, and if we can get some teams out of their comfort zone and in an up and down game, that will be good for us.
