Iowa wearing Blackout uniforms for the Minny game

What an impressive scene it will be that day! First Iowa wins the grapple on the gridiron. Then the football teams comes out and exerts maximum revenge on the goofers. I hope they break tendency and let the team run up the score on the goofers. They deserve punishment for what happened. I for one would not mind one bit if they did.

I am cautiously optimistic now that public enemies Sally Mason and Chuck Green are gone that the UofI will not find a way to screw this day up as it has the potential to be awesome; however, history is certainly not on my side for optimism.

One thing I haven't seen detailed out yet (maybe it's out there) is the parking situation. One of two things has to happen and both are going to anger a segment of people:
  1. They tell football tailgaters and university lot parking pass owners, otherwise known as donors, that they cannot use their spot in the designated lot until AFTER wrestling is over. Angry: all the donors who want to show up and tailgate all day, or at least, start before wrestling would be over.
  2. Those that are going to be there only for wrestling are not going to be able to park in the university lots / conventional wrestling parking lots because those are football parking lots. And they will have a hard time finding a parking spot around Kinnick. Angry: the core wrestling fans that this day is supposed to be about!

If Mason and Green were still here, I have no doubt Option 1 would be put into play as a passive-aggressive way to tell football tailgaters that they cannot begin tailgating until 2pm or so with a note about it being done on behalf of their own self-interest because the nanny state knows better.

I don't know which is the best option, to be honest. As a football tailgater and wrestling fan that plans on going to both the wrestling dual and the football game, I'm hopeful I can park in the morning and tailgate up until wrestling starts, then go back to tailgating afterward. I don't know how the logistics of that is going to be possible if they don't want a parking mess.

Whatever that means...

Blackout unis hit @kinnickstadium on 11.14.15! Releasing the video that has our players hyped on Friday | #Hawkeyes

Wearing black makes you look thinner but unless it somehow makes us look faster it's not going to matter.

I hate blackout games. Horrible and dull looking. They'd be better off going with two gold-out games, with black poms for fans.

tl;dr

I would love to make it up for this game, so I could see in person what it looks like in person. I would really like to make it for one of the night games this year. But I can't complain my girlfriend got me tickets for the Illinois St game for my first trip to Kinnick

Agreed. The all black crowd completely mutes the stadium look. The idea of "outs" is a BOLD, BRIGHT color. a "WOW" look. It works with White, Gold, etc. Black...not so much.

While I do agree Gold would look better under the lights, its tough to do in the middle of November when very few people have yellow/gold winter clothes. Could they throw a gold sweatshirt/shirt over their coat? Yes. But not everyone wants to do that.

Also, I'd argue the Iowa v Michigan 2009 blackout game with yellow pom poms under the lights looked pretty sweet.

Do you get notifications on your phone when nick writes a post?

I don't think it's too difficult to track down a Hawknick post to respond to. I thought I wasted a lot of time at work!

I think HawkNick was also the one who when he started would start like 6 new threads at a time.

Yeah, if they are 5-4 going into that game; playing stale, boring football there will definitely be some empty seats.

Btw, sorry about Jordy Nelson.

DUDE!!! I'm going to go cry again, I was doing good today too! F the Steelers and their stupid field.

About time. All black uni's will look tough. Id like to see the hawk on the helmet a different shade of black, metallic, flat, gun barrel, etcblack cleats and socks. Throw in a smidge of yellow somewhere and we are good to go. It don't get tougher than that. Should've been done already and at least once a year. Back n black
