Iowa vs Tennessee - Gator Bowl

My prediction for this exciting bowl game...I won't watch it. I honestly hope Iowa only sells about 10 percent of the tickets available. You want change, it starts with the pocketbook.

Just checked out a Vols fan forum and they are absolutely losing their minds with giddyness over this "prestigious bowl" they've been invited to. Certain they will win. (wouldn't surprise me) These extra practices are gonna do their program a world of good. Yeah.......it's sure done a lot for Iowa.

Ah, to be young and excited about your program. I remember them days

I don't think the vibe from the two fanbases could be any further apart.

The Vols are a young team. The practices should help them out. Their program is ascending, ours, well...

So many Hawks fans in the Tennessee area. Nice to see. Wish we could have got Music City.

Good call, Nick.

Some of the wankers would complain if we were playing in the Rose
& not the sugar.

Hells Bells........Jacksonville is a lot nicer destination, than Nashville, Detroit and
easier trip than to San Fran. Another January Bowl game for Hawkeyes.

Granted, the Gator Bowl has a bit more prestige than all the other bowls listed, but I gotta say that Nashville has the most to do out of all the cities you mentioned (aside from San Fran of course)...

Agreed. I have been in the Nashville area since 2007 and love it here. it would have been really cool to have the Hawks here in Music City.

We faced 4 mobile quarterbacks in conference play that rushed for over 400 yards on the year.
We went 0-4 in those games and surrendered 269 yards rushing to those quarterbacks, allowing them to rush for 5.5. yards per carry and 67 yards per game.
Tennessee has a mobile quarterback in Joshua Dobbs, and he is averaging 78.6 yards rushing this season.

Volunteer fan in Jacksonville will be just as nice as Gamecock fan.
Volunteer fan still LOVE Bruce Pearl.

Tenn. has a far better tradition in football than Iowa but has been down recently. I am sure they are excited about a bowl game.

I do not understand the feelings of many hawk fans about this bowl. It is a good bowl and a good match up for Iowa. I want Ferentz gone in the worst way but it is not going to happen this year anyway so we may as well win the damn game. Anyone here who thinks that losing this game is somehow good for Iowa is crazy.
Win or lose, Ferentz will be back next year.
Not going to the game, not watching it, or hoping that Iowa loses will have NO EFFECT whether or not Ferentz is back next year.

For those that we there in 1983, this time around, Accuweather is saying 70 for the high, partly sunny for January 2nd.

January bowl games like this mean nothing now. Jacksonville is the armpit of Florida. I still don't believe Iowa will travel well.

Anatomically speaking, wouldn't it be more like Crawfordville or Perry? And wouldn't Jacksonville be the deltoid? :D

You are right about next year, but it is a start at sending a message that not everyone associated with Iowa athletics (including fans) is satisfied with mediocrity and losing to pathetic teams. I will be watching the game, though.

Tennessee is a pretty state, but doesn't come up to North Carolina in my book. Wish the B1G had a bowl in Charlotte, NC. I would make that. It's 6.5 hrs to Jacksonville. Very doable, but this team left me sad after making the drive to Maryland in October.
