Iowa vs Tennessee - Gator Bowl

Exactly, Iowa's lines will dominate this one. Tennessee will have now answer for Ott, Davis, LTP and company.

Good call, Nick. Some of the wankers would complain if we were playing in the Rose& not the sugar.Hells Bells........Jacksonville is a lot nicer destination, than Nashville, Detroit andeasier trip than to San Fran. Another January Bowl game for Hawkeyes.
That is just pathetic.

January bowl games like this mean nothing now. Jacksonville is the armpit of Florida. I still don't believe Iowa will travel well.

"January bowl games like this mean nothing now." You must have talked to the players on the Iowa team? No? Of course, approval for playing in a bowl game has nothing to do with the kids, just fans like you. Stay home. Don't watch on TV. Write anonymously on message boards that we need to fire Sally M, Gary B. and Kirk F. Nice life.

Cant wait to see how Barta, Dolph, and the rest of the KF sycophants will try to polish up this turd of bowl.

Someone's in a bad mood. You go to the game and I won't watch. We'll both be happy.

And you're complaining about me writing anonymously on a message board? Aren't you doing the same thing? That's the great thing about this message board. It's anonymous. Besides, I don't see your real name either.

Look, it pains me living in a region of the SEC conference and to see what has become of the Iowa football program. I've said it before, but to many in the nation Iowa doesn't even register anymore as a relevant football program. I guess if I still lived in Iowa I wouldn't know any better.

I highly doubt Brandon Scherff wanted his last game in a Hawkeye uniform to be the Taxslayer Bowl.

Just checked out a Vols fan forum and they are absolutely losing their minds with giddyness over this "prestigious bowl" they've been invited to. Certain they will win. (wouldn't surprise me) These extra practices are gonna do their program a world of good. Yeah.......it's sure done a lot for Iowa.

Ah, to be young and excited about your program. I remember them days

I don't think the vibe from the two fanbases could be any further apart.

Great Football Stadium and atmosphere. Party on the landing then walk to the game. I've been to the last few Georgia / Florida games and it's just a great football stadium. Fun place.

My memory may be fuzzy, but doesn't Kirk get more money for making it to a January bowl vs. a december bowl? More money for winning a January bowl vs. a December bowl? If this is the case, then he is going to be further rewarded for mediocrity. I hope Barta has to explain this one to someone.

But he's done such a masterful job of guiding this football juggernaut to an impressive 7-5 record. He deserves more $$.

This is their first bowl game in 4 years. They're sort of in an ISU state of giddyness right now. If you want a hoot, go to the Rutgers rivals site and see how stoked they are to be going to Detroit. It's downright precious.

I'm with you awesome place! Looking forward to it. Lots of Iowans living in Florida. Great time for some family reunions. Time for reflection of the past year and New Years resolutions for 2015! GO HAWKS!

What I expect when Tennessee has the ball: Ott, LTP, Carl Davis and company manhandling one of the most inept offensive lines you will see at this level. Tennessee has talent at the skill positions, but its play calling is so limited because the quarterback can't stand in the pocket for a full 3 seconds. Their saving grace may be that Dobbs is a mobile quarterback, which always seems to give Iowa defenses trouble.

What I expect when Iowa has the ball: a lot of 3rd and long, checkdown throw, punt. Tennessee is still without its leading tackler, who missed the last two games due to a rape investigation, but they're still pretty strong defensively. I would say that Scherff and Weisman need to be heavily utilized, or else Iowa will have a hard time moving the ball.

So that leaves special teams as a key factor, and you know Ferentz will always lose ground in that area. Just within the last two games, Tennessee has returned a punt for a touchdown and scored a touchdown on a fake field goal. Florida beat Tennessee 10-9 earlier this year, and I expect a similar result for our game, but I give Tennessee a slight edge at this point.
