Iowa vs OSU comparison

In the last two weeks Iowa and Ohio state have played the same two teams: Minnesota and Indiana. Iowa played them both on the road, Ohio state played them both at home.

Iowa vs Minnesota? 48-31
Ohio state vs Minnesota? 30-14

Iowa vs Indiana? 48-16
Ohio state vs Indiana? 49-26

Iowa has played both of these mediocre teams tougher than the almighty Buckeyes. Not saying Iowa is necessarily better, but I think Iowa stacks up against the top ranked big ten teams this year better than we think.

Nice comparison. I was going to point out that Ohio St. is always going to get the opponents best game and maybe them playing them first could contribute to the gap difference in scoring. But, Indiana really wanted to compete well against Iowa as I think Allen uses Iowa as the model and bar. Actually, I think the same with Minnesota and Fleck. They also know that Iowa is a model of consistency and an attainable bar to compete well against with a chance to win. So, I think your comparison holds water.

I think it would be a good matchup with OSU and Iowa would have a good shot this year.

Agreed, Penn State will be a lot of fun in a couple weeks. If we win the next two weeks, I’m not sure if I’d rather see Michigan or OSU win the East. Wish we could wreck both of their dreams this year, just as we did the past two.

Ohio state is the devil, always better to beat Ohio state. Although seeing harbaugh lose is enjoyable as well.

Iowa's record against Ohio State (post John Cooper)

2003 L 10 - 19
2004 W 33 - 7
2005 L 6 - 31
2006 L 17 - 38
2009 L 24 - 27
2010 L 17 - 20
2013 L 24 - 34
2017 W 55 - 24

Iowa has done about as well as anyone against Ohio State, a record of 2-6, both wins blowouts. Ohio State has blown out Iowa twice, with four being close or competitive losses. I don't think the Ohio State helmet especially impresses the Iowa team in any way. Going just on the long term record would give Iowa a one in four shot of winning a title shot on a neutral field.

By Comparison Michigan only has 2 wins in the last 17 years, Penn State 5, Wisconsin 4, Purdue 3, Michigan State 3, Illinois 2, Northwestern 1. Nebraska 1.

You'll get a great read on Iowa over the next 4 weeks. Maryland; @Penn St; @Purdue; Northwestern.

All tough teams. I think we will be very fortunate to win 3 of those 4.

Uhm.... IF Iowa gets to the B1G championship, it wants Ohio State. To me at least. I think this Michigan defense is borderline best ever at Michigan. For some reason, I just think that whole team is finally putting it all together. Where as Ohio State has cracks. They just aren’t as physical on the offensive line, and their defensive back 7 is not as formidable as previous years. Yes the Bucknuts would have motivation from last year, but they aren’t a typical Ohio State team.

Ohio St wouldn't be able to stop our two TE passing attack just like last year.

Now when you add in Nick Bosa is not coming back to Ohio State, this decision gets easier and easier. I’d totally take Ohio State before Michigan.

I predicted earlier this year it would be Iowa and Michigan in the championship but I would much rather take on OSU. For some reason OSU has lost it's edge.

Minny missed two makeable FGs in the 2nd half while it was 23-14. they could easily have made made it 23-20 and really put the pressure on the bucks
