Iowa vs Oky State predictions

He will at least major him I think

Oh yeah....no doubt about that. Major for sure.

But even at that, kepping it to only a major is almost like a tie as far as how good Oliver is.

Kelly is not the most accomplished guy on the mat, but he is strong and doesn't seem to run out of energy. He won't wear down and get Caught for a pin. When he wins it is usually because he wears out the other guy, not because he has better technique or skill. Just plain old determination and persistence. Oliver isn't known for having lots of endurance.

125- McD maj 4-0
133- Ramos dec 7-0
141- Ballweg dec 10-0
149- Oliver maj 10-4
157- DSJ dec 13-4
165- Caldwell maj 13-8
174- Perry dec 13-11
184- Lofthouse dec 16-11
197- Rosholt dec 16-14
HWT- Gelogaev dec 16-17

Iowa: 16
Okie St: 17

I've only seen one dual, but looked to me like Evans is wrestling with a lot of heart. He WILL win and move into dominance mode. One question, how is that u guys say Ballweg is a top 5 wrestler? He looked horrid against Steiber, reminded me of M* in that he had NO offense.

You just said you watched ONE dual. Ballweg has wrestled pretty well this season and lost a pretty close match to a really good wrestler in Steiber. Do not panic, Ballweg is going to be an All-American this year

The Steibers make everyone look like they don't have good offense.

So how did you come up with 19-16 Hawks?

My two cents...
25 McD with a with a major (however a pin would make me very happy!) 4-0
33 Ramos dec 7-0
41 Ballweg with a major! 11-0
49 Oliver techs 11-5
57 DSJ but way too close for comfort 14-5
65 Caldwell 14-8
74 Perry (and I cry writing that down bc I love Evans) 14-11
84 EL but once again way too close for comfort 17-11
97 Hopefully Blake isn't out there but Okie St regardless 17-14
HWT Russian wins 17-17
I believe I would win on criteria with TWO MAJORS!

There's no criteria for most majors. It's as follows:

1-# of wins
2- combined total of falls and TFs
3- total # of match points
4- first takedown

and so forth

Thanks for posting pump. I too was confused in thinking it was combined total of bonus matches. If it comes down to match points I think that favors the Pokes because of that Oliver guy.

I love riding Okie St. for their passive stalling style of wrestling so win or lose this dual, I just really hope that we look like the better conditioned and more aggressive team. Against Ohio St. even McD and DSJ looked soaking wet with sweat and gassed. Ramos couldn't find a way to turn a back-up 125 lber. The number of aggressive leg attacks by Iowa could be counted on one hand. Outside of Evans it was not a fun team to watch.

Agree 100%. Just want to see all 10 Hawks come out and wrestle aggressive and quit standing around. So far I've been very disappointed in the progress the majority of wrestlers have made during the past year. Hopefully they show up with more fight for the Okie St and Minnesota duals.

125- McD MD 4-0
133- Ramos dec 7-0
141- Ballweg dec 10-0
149- Oliver TF 10-5
157- DSJ dec 13-5 (Could be much closer then some think as Okie St wrestler has only lost once this year)
165- Caldwell MD 13-9
174- Perry dec 13-12
184- Lofthouse dec 16-12 (Low scoring/boring match)
197- Rosholt dec 16-15
HWT- Gelogaev MD 16-19 (last year the Russian destroyed Telford at Carver......hopefully Telford can keep it to a regular decision on Sunday)

I think Okie St wins if Rosholt is in the line-up. If not, the Hawks should get the win in Stillwater.
Would love to see Evans knock off Perry!!

The Pokes may not be as well conditioned but they tend to wrestle slicker, which results in more points. Iowa should win 4 of the first 5 matches (assuming the meet starts at 125). We may be holding our breath during the last 5 to see if the Hawks can hang on for the win.

Also, Ramos faces his first tough competition of the season in Morrison. Morrison is 16-2 with 2 losses to McCormick and Dardaness. OBTW, he beat both of these guys in his most recent matches. He is very defensive so a major by Ramos would be very impressive.

i agree with several post here that talk about some of our Hawk wrestlers looking slugish. It seems that in years past, our teams were made up of more starters that had fire in them much like Evans. After the last 2 duals, i have been disappointed in the effort of some of our guys. Even Ray Brizner had more fire than some of our guys at this point of the season. I don't have a good feeling headed to OKie st. If we are not aggresive and force our style, i could see us losing this dual by 5 or six points. After 41, DSJ will win, but I could see a sweep for okie st. EL tends to wrestle Okie st. style which will not benefit him and i think he gets beat. Telford as it has already been stated, looks like a sack of potatoes and a wet one at that. Again, if we wrestle aggresive and force our style, we win. If not it will be a long ride home.

125: MCD isn't battling some sickness but really think he comes up big here with fall
Iowa 6-0

133: Ramos will have a battle here against Morrison but this guy is on a mission and would be shocked if Ramos lost this match!
Iowa 9-0

141: Ballweg is starting to show he belongs in the top ten (which he is) and will wrestle great in this dual. Hawks rolling
Iowa 12-0

149: Kelly gets the nod and I feel sorry for him because Oliver is going to bring the pain. I have been telling everyone that Oliver is in beast mode. (put up 21 points in 1st period) If you think Kelly can keep this one close your in lala land. Oliver techs Kelly
Iowa 12-5

157: DSJ should have no problem I really wish Oliver would bump up to wrestle DSJ but it just won't happen. I do think Oliver would be DSJ though if he did bump up. Anyways DSJ gets a dec here.
Iowa 15-5

165: Maybe im the only one that thinks Moore doesn't have a shot here. Caldwell wins and it ain't pretty. Sorry
Iowa 15-8

174: The matchup of the night and it will determine this dual. How can you not be on the mustache train? Evans has come alooong way from when he first stepped foot on campus and brands and co are noticing their hard work and mike's hard work pay off. I think Evans though can't get it done against Perry. Perry is a different wrestlers then Heflin and pulls out the win for OSU.
Iowa 15-11

184: still not a believer in Lofthouse with the crowd rocking that is if Evans loses Lofthouse will lose his match in an upset for OSU.
Iowa 15-14

197: Burak has been wrestling well and Rosholt has been reported hurt but is planning on wrestling. I think if he is hurt Burak gets the W
Iowa 18-14

HWT: Telford will keep this close enough to keep the Iowa victory but just can't get over the hump for the win.

Iowa 18-17

This dual is going to come down to the upper weights which we have been lack luster in past seasons so hopefully they come through in a big way.

im happy with my predictions
