in my opinion the Hawks don't play tough. If the refs are going to allow thug ball then they need to thug it up.
That is what has changed this season. Refs aren't calling ****, so teams are playing Iowa M2M and are in their jock. Iowa does not play well against that. IMO it is absolute horse **** that the refs are back to BAU.

I've thought this before about Fran's teams...when the game is clean they are at their best...however when you play MSU, OSU, Wisconsin in February/March and the officials swallow their whistle...the Hawks always just shy away. Instead of dishing it out as good as they get...I think this is what people really mean when they question their mental toughness...the ONLY player on this team that looks like they have the fire to dish it right back is Woodbury.

I wonder what our biggest scoring run is since illinois. We scored 7 to start the 2nd half against Wisconsin. That may be the biggest. We can't score in bunches and when we do score, we take the next possession off on defense or don't crash the boards and give up a put back. If you can't pull away and you can't win close games....

cut down on turnovers and better defense with ohio state cooling off a bit dont think they shoot 50% in 2nd half as well iowa by 10+ stay calm people!

We said this Wednesday night at halftime, too. I don't think this is an accident.. Iowa is a bad team right now.

Can't it be both things? Our defense can be better AND they are shooting above their average.

Also, their defense hasn't been great and we have missed a lot of open shots...again.

But I agree with you, we are giving them too many looks.

You're asking me if I believe that every team as of late just happens to be shooting lights out against us regardless of our defense? One or two games maybe, but not this.
