-IOWA VS MSU-

moral victories suck, so close but a tough way to end the season, hope for better days ahead, really glad that Fran is our coach,

Moral victories.. No such thing when they end your season. Especially after 4-straight years of being well below .500.

I am sick of losing. SOOOOOOOOOO sick of it.

At least we have almost everyone coming back next year, and a chance to be much improved. Add a few new players, and the streak of losing seasons could end.

Call it a prediction - we break the .500 mark next year (overall record).

Iowa gets an average game from Basabe and Iowa wins. He seemed to be pressing from the start and then sitting for son long he just couldn't get his motor running. Hope he works hard on his ball skills, his jumper and his back to the basket game while adding 10-15 pounds and he will be a beast.

It's always easy to play the blame game after the fact. In a close game there's always a winner and a loser. Is there any chance that the winner did something right and the loser didn't necessarily do something wrong? You'd never know it based on the posts of the after the fact experts.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but not having Andrew Brommer in the second half really hurt.

The fact that Devon Archie got significant run in a BTT game against Michigan State and we didn't lose by 25+ blows my mind. I'm sick of losing, but I'm glad we're on the right road. The last two games of the season really impressed me. Absolutely no quit against two superior teams.

If you watched Iowa play at MSU Basabe had the same type of game up there. Izzo knows how to attack Basabe. Post Payne/Roe up against Mel and let him hack. Those two guys go right at you and Basabe gets a lot of stupid fouls. Basabe is not a great defender when it comes to denying position. He will get stronger and learn to be a bit more proactive and he will be fine. Izzo is a master of attacking a weakness of players, and he knows you HAVE to take Basabe out of the game to really help slow Iowa down.

Just a **** poor call at the end of the game trying to run Gatens off of a double screen. Everyone in the arena knows that Iowa wants Gatens to get that shot...at least have McCabe set the screen and roll to the top so Gatens isn't forced to shoot a double pump 3.

It was a good effort but Iowa should have won this game. Basabe played about his worst game of the year.

Gatens almost made that shot, by the way, and that foul is called 7 times out of 10. I have no problem with the play. I wish Cole would have pulled the trigger on the 12 footer on the previous possession.

Marble was instant offense today. If he can get a more defined role next year I expect big things.

I hear what your saying. Besides Cole, Basabe just doesn't have any help down low. I wonder if Brommer wasn't hurt if he would have seen the floor more just because that would have taken Mel off the ball and to more of a help position. Fran could really use a legit C with a big body just to play some defense and rebound.

Me ether I thought it was a good play and a good move by Gatens and yes he got fouled and i really thought the ref called it at first.....typical stupid ref thinking they can't call anything at the end of games.

He did almost make it, but it is still a very low % play to try and run at the end of the game coming out of a timeout. That is not called a foul 7 out of 10 times on a last second play; the refs tend to let them play at the end of a game. Still, you don't set up a play out of a timeout trying to get a foul...you try and run a play to get a good look and if you get fouled, that's great.

I agree on Cole...he's been making that shot all year and today he was hesitant to take it a few times.

It was a dagger and the coaches were thinking about calling TO...they should have. There have been several times this year where they could have used a TO and have chosen not to. I don't think it has worked in Iowa's favor one single time.

I don't mind playing it out and not using a TO when the situation calls for it, but when cole had the ball with 16 secs on the shot clock and looked like he was going to **** his pants, you have to call a time out from the sideline. In that situation, MSU has the advantage and you need to call the timeout to set something up.

I was screaming at the TV and wondering why they didn't reset the offense after getting the offensive board down 1 when they could have played for the last shot.
