I don't know if I'm happy or sad. We could have had 8 or 9 wins today.
We had way too many shots on single legs that we didn't finish.

Here are my thoughts. Something is not right about McDonough either he is cutting weight or is hurt but this is not the same kid as in the past. Ramos is a beast and dependable. Ballweg looked tired. Kelly gives us nothing. St. John is boring, unexplosive and undependable. I really liked watching Moore wrestle and he is putting in some serious work in the room. Evans is right there and will get over the hump in the postseason. Lofthouse didn't take a serious shot, enough said. Burak will be very good in the future. Telford didn't look horrible, needs to choose neutral in the future.

CaneHawk just relax we just went to Minny and pulled off a great victory over a team the experts were predicting to beat us....flo wrestling had us lose 19-12 and intermatwrestle 16-15. At least McD went for a big move, Ballweg wrestled tough and we needed that win! If Ethen gets his confidence back Hawks are in great shape. We non-wrestling sit behind the computer bloggers need to start to get positive about this team!!!!!

I try to be the type of person who listens to both sides of the story. I try not to be objective. I listen to the other persons opinion. But. "When a person comes on this forum and posts something so absolutely ******* stupid as to StJohn being boring, unexplosive and undependable, it tells me that this moron knows nothing about wrestling. Virtually everyone McDonough wrestles has two goals, especially in a meet projected to be as tight as this one.
#1. Do not get pinned
#2. Do not get major decisioned.
McDonough will be there when it counts.
As far as St. John? I have seen many boring unexplosive wrestlers win National Titles over the years. Just win baby.
Wrestling at this level is tough and Iowa just beat a team they were not supposed to.
I am sure Brands knows who gives them the best shot to win matches at any given weight.
Enjoy the win. Beating Minn. is always good.

Brooks lost yesterday in the Grand View Open this would not be a good idea we won't gain anything from it or atleast gain enough to where it'd be worth it

there were a lot of positives yesterday anytime you can go to up to Minnesota and get a win is a good thing. Kelly didn't give up the major as I thought and Moore looked GREAT. Match went pretty much how I thought it would and by Kelly not getting majored gave us the win. Cheers to the hawks!
Agree with the assessment on McD in that guys are going to use defense, but he's a top 3 wrestler in all of college wrestling. That match was only close because he got high on the throw. Ramos = STUD. Ballweg does not impress me like he does most of u, serviceable wrestler and possible AA.149=not much talent. DSJ is in a very weak weight class, he needs to wrestle better to beat Welsh. He wrestled Minnesota's weakest weight and did not win like a #1 should have. Nick Moore where have u been all this time, he NEEDS to roll with this win! I don' think I can say any thing about EL here without getting banned, maybe Gambrall version 2.0? Love this Burak kid, but my gosh at this level you need to be able to finish those shots. I mean come on, that's simple fundamentals. Future looks bright with him though. Is it just me or is Telford just too tall, he just does not have enough offense to be a top2 finisher.

I think the talent is there but we are not finishing matches smart and at this level that's what separates you as THE elite class team. It's hard when your top blue chip

We are fans of this team, but we are giving honest assessment of this team, they are NOT wrestling to their potential. I like DSJ, great kid to have on the team, but take all of the top ranked wrestlers in the country and rank them from top to bottom. DSJ is at the bottom, he doesn't have to be but he is. He shoulda DESTROYED Zilverberg.

Looking back over it, it seems like my basic addition skills failed badly. At least I got the criteria win right.
Anyway, McD is looking better in the sense he seems to not be sick/gassed at the end of matches. He'll be just fine. Moore looked absolutely dominant aside from the last 20 seconds. Burak is taking great shots but he really needs to work on his finishing technique. It seems like he never goes for a trip after elevating, but rather drives straight ahead and ends up sprawled out. Telford will be fine. If he had finished that shot early in the match he would've won. I will force myself to say nothing about Lofthouse.
