Iowa vs Maryland today

Iowa will need a big game from Megan Gustafson and for her to stay out of foul trouble. Even if she does not score 20+ her presence inside will be very important.

They will need to play four good quarters like they did in the first quarter against Illinois. They played Notre Dame and UCLA tough in the first halfs too. A complete game like that will give them a very good chance to win.

Good post Clinton! Totally agree. Heading to the game in 30 minutes and am anticipating a good game. Go Hawks!

Maryland has made their money this year out rebounding opponents. Even when they lost to UConn they won the rebound battle. Iowa can play with them, but they will need their best rebounding effort of the year. Iowa will need to use their depth too. Our 5th through tenth players are better so we need to keep up the defensive intensity and when we run TAKE CARE of the ball. GO HAWKS.
 
I hope that Ally's 3 there will help to end her shooting slump. If she catches fire Iowa's chances improve so much.
 
Maryland #42 is a crybaby, glad to see her out foul out and get the T for not leaving the court. I despise her.

I watched all of this game. Sorry I wasn't on line to comment during the game. Iowa came out timid and not as ready to play as Maryland. They did however show they can play with the Terps. Iowa did not lose because of the officials, but they were awful - largely both ways. What was a foul one time was OK the next. Buttenham defending a layup barely brushes the shooter and a foul is called. Less than a minute later she makes a layup at the other end with more contact no call. Tania Davis got away with a couple of flops and got foul shots, but Iowa got pushed around under their defensive basket and never got a call. This got way out of hand at the same time Iowa lost their poise and started making bad turnovers late in the 3rd quarter and early in the 4th quarter. Pretty much a solid effort from the starters, but Iowa needs much better out of Stewart and Coley. Good luck on the trip to NYC.
 
I would much rather have Brenda as a head coach than Lisa but that's just me. I know Lisa is a hall of fame coach but she seems to be out-coached nearly every game. She is a good recruiter though!
