I don't believe he really has the skill set to execute Tom Herman's offense. He's most effective throwing out routes and slants, simple dink & dunk plays, or scrambling on a broken play. Against a competent secondary, he just can't make the more complex reads and decisions, or make the tougher throws. He wasn't recruited for the scheme, and I think he may be a square peg they've been pounding into a round hole because they feel they owe him the position.
