Iowa v. Nebraska: A Comparison

Nebraska has historically been a 10 win/yr program.
I expect they will fair similarly to Penn St by averaging about 1 less win per season.
Factoring in the schedule the next two years, if Nebraska gets to 9 wins in either season, that's a very, very good year.

Sorry, do they get full credit for splitting that one?
i'm assuming your're talking about 97. Depends on who you talk to, but at Memorial Stadium, we claim 5 and I consider it 5 myself, just a Michigan claims to have won it the same year.

Now, debating whom was the better team..... that's a whole new discussion that would be better off left alone, lol.

Yeah, and I'm sure that the New Testament tells you that Christianity is the way to go, the Koran roots for Islam, etc. Just because Nebraska fans say that Nebraska won the '97 title and therefore claim 5 titles, and Michigan fans do the same for Michigan, doesn't mean much.

They both have 1/2 a title from that year.

Right, history shows both teams won a MNC that year, one from the coaches, one from the press. I don't really care if they want to say 4 1/2 or 5.

Unfortunately, we were not able to settle it on the field.

Eh, we claim 2 conference titles this past decade. I'll give you the full 5. Oh, and about your point about the koolaid drinkers earlier: it is the main problem for nearly every school. Every school has the koolaid drinkers that make everyone else in the fan base look bad, and then every rival claims that fan base is a bunch of delusional idiots. It's the evil world of the message boards.

See the previous post. Last year Iowa went 8-5 and Nebraska went 10-4 in a better conference.

Better conference? Conferences had the same record in the bowls, except the Big Ten played almost all ranked teams, Big XII played 1 ranked team, and against each other, 2-1. Inferiority complex of the Big XII is so strong they spend time on this site.

OK. First of all this may have all ready been said but of course I wouldn't know because I stopped reading the posts after page 1. It is stupid to compare Iowa and Nebraska at this juncture. Until now the two teams have played in different conferences and off the top of my head only 2 common opponents over the past 10 years (Iowa St and Arizona). If there are others then sorry my bad. My point is it is stupid to compare the two teams when they are not going against each other or same other teams. We all get what we wished for now. Nebraska on our schedule every year. Amen.

All I can say is if they miss the Big 12 that much they can always go back. I mean why would you want to play in an inferior conference like the Big Ten anyway Husker fans no matter their situnation they really know how to spin in fact I would say Husker fans are the best fan base in America at spin.

Oh and one more thing, you bring up that you made a move sideways at best, if not a step backwards, as far as moving to the B10. Since you made that statement I would have to assume if I was interested enough to look thru all your posts, that you have never commented on "how hard next years schedule is". :)

I'm not sure that I have said "how hard our schedule will be." but I have mentioned that the powers that be made it as difficult as they could. I have heard 2 reasons for this: 1) They want to showcase the new "draw" and give fans the best matchups they can (understandable) and 2) They want to make sure DONU doesn't walk away with the conference championship, like PSU did in94 (rumored).

Our schedule should be stacked with pretty compelling/competitive games next year, non-conference included.

Probably the best post in the thread.

We will see.

Nebraska fans still think Osbourn is roaming the sidelines and Turner Gill is the quarterback. Yes, Nebraska obviously has a much more storied football program than Iowa. However, the tide is changing. Heck, the University of Chicago, Princeton and Yale used to be national powers ... Times change and the glory days of Nebraska football in the 80s is over. Nebraska is now simply a "solid" program .... Nothing more. Nothing less.

It's funny that Iowa fans like to cherry pick the timeline to make the comparison, but Nebraska fans can't. It is also hilarious to me that historical references can only be applied when they suit your needs. Why not go back the last 20 years, the last 30, or just simply include all of modern history.

Lies, damn, lies and statistics.

This.

Better Conference LOL the North with

Iowa St
Kansas
Kansas St
Missouri
Colorado

During this decade Iowa has been better then Nebraska obviously Nebraska history is much more prestigious for sure no question.

Penn St thought they were going too dominate league as well still waiting for that.
