After all these years the fat cats were the coaches.

I would say 75% coaches, 25% players for fat cat ratio. I don't blame it all on the coaches.

Obviously I'm not at practices, but I just can't wrap my head around the idea that there are coaches failing at their responsibilities worse than Greg Davis.

So what's the comprehensive theory here? Greg Davis is an offensive genius but Soup suddenly couldn't get his receivers to do the right things and Erb didn't do as well as expected after major injuries to just about every RB.

Also, since GD is the QB coach, shouldn't he be responsible for JVB's obvious regression?

It could be more along the lines that Kirk is pretty much tied to GD going forward. If it doesn't work, it could very well be over. And in that case, if you have coaches who aren't gelling with the guy you've tied your future to, you get rid of those coaches and find new ones (such as those that the new guy wants).
