Iowa State produced two worst coaches in the NBA

I KNEW there was another one, but for some reason I had Larry Eustachy on my mind. When I looked him up he was never in the NBA.

GO HAWKS!!!

The flip side to this....maybe Iowa hasn't had many coaches good enough to have the NBA interested?

I doubt Floyd was innocent at USC, but looking at other programs it doesn't appear to be that unusual. I know a kid recruited by him at UTEP that was also recruited by Iowa and there was nothing unethical about it (he ended up at UTEP).

If Fred weren't ISU, most would think him a good coach. Both Floyd and Fred were not the causes of their resprective NBA results.

I think he was a fine coach in college. This is about the NBA though and it's hard to say he's doing a good job.

That may be but the team was dismantled.
Wasnt like they rebuilt w anythng much more than average. Floyd became average when he went to an averagd team.

To be fair to Hoiberg on this go around, the Bulls have done a terrible job building a team for him. Look at the teams he assembled at Iowa State, and what he has been given in Chicago are about the exact opposite.

That argument works for for Hornacek, but not so much for Hoiberg. Thibideaux got that team to the playoffs on a regular basis. The Bulls wanted a " player friendly" coach and that's what they got.

imo, the clones and Hoiberg were the perfect match for each other. For Clonefan, it is too bad he wanted something different.

More often than not, the NBA coach is a reflection of the organization and a psychologist in dealing with players.

So I'm not surprised that bad organizations also have bad coaches.

Exactly, Hoiberg wants a team that can run-and-gun. The bulls gave him a team built for the half-court, which doesn't mesh with Hoiberg and what his teams at Iowa State did.

According to some well-known talking heads in Chicago, Hoiberg has zero respect from the players on the team. If this is true, he is doing a pretty decent job overall. I believe they are still in contention for a playoff spot.

No, it means despite spending 10+ years in the NBA he doesn't recognize it is a player's league. Whatever you think of the NBA, it is the highest level of basketball played on the planet. Brad Stevens understood that the day he took Celtics job, he is all about setting his ego aside and figuring out how do I become a better coach. That is why if you are Duke, you throw a bunch of money at him when Coach K retires.

And these guys have probably made a combined 50-75 million dollars coaching in the league. I guess if you're going to be bad, get paid a kings ransom.
