Iowa State has been decimated

They have lost a ton of players and most of the good ones. Their incoming class is down to like 8 players. They are going to need to hit the portal for 30 or more just to field a team

I bring this up because we will be losing a coach soon. Will anything like this hit us in the transition

The timing was really horrible for them. I don't disagree with anything that you said, that are suffering some huge losses. On the other hand, they will have a lot to selll players in the transfer portal. They won't be able to afford the best ones but they will have lots of opportunities for guys that are looking for that. Can they hang with us early in the season? I doubt it. They will be similar to us this year when we were breaking in an unfamiliar QB, and breaking in a whole lot more.

We will see pretty quickly how good of a coach Pollard got. He will have to recruit and coach up a bunch of new players in a brand new system. Not gonna be easy.

Over the holiday I was told by someone that had contacts within the room during the team meeting that Pollard had with the players after Campbell left. I guess several of the upperclassmen stood up and told Pollard to his face to get the F out of the room and some other choice words. I was not told much else regarding the meeting but needless to say Pollard does not seem to be a popular guy with the program

The one I was hoping would hit the portal and end up at Iowa was Aiden Flora. Great return man and HS teammate of Brevin Doll. He just said that he's staying.

Really. I guess I thought Pollard was highly regarded. Why angry with him. Choice of new coach???

Apparently he evenly distributed NIL $ evenly through all sports whereas every other school gave higher $$ to FB and MBB. It's the primary factor in MC leaving.

I didn’t get any of the meeting details or anything else behind the scenes leading up to that meeting but he did not get a warm welcome from the players. Anything having to do with NIL would be unknown

im hoping that any recruits understand the situation and realize most likely Kirk will be gone soon. Although paterno coached until he was 83? 84? Can’t count it out.

Arizona St went thru this when Kenny Dillingham was hired. He brought in 35 players from the portal in his first year and went to the playoffs. Getting Cam Skatteboo and Sam Leavitt among them really helped.

The players will be out there; the staff just has to go find them.

Isn't this what Iowa does, spread the NIL money across all sports?
The way I heard was he denied the coaches to have any say in who gets what or how it is distributed across your team, but I could be wrong. That was one of Campbell's requests several times to have more input or have more control and Pollard denied his requests so he left. That was also a big reason why Cael left the wrestling from what was said is Pollard denied him total control of his own program. Since NIL wasn't around then I am not sure what Pollard was holding back from wrestling.
