Iowa State Game Predictions

What happened to Osemele?

He got dinged in the first half, got some treatment and came back in. Didn't hear anything from the Cyclone radio guys after that, so maybe he's fine.

I will say this - the Cyclone front four failed to generate any pressure on Rennie, and that unit did lose a starter for the rest of the season. If they can't handle a 1-AA offensive line....it should be a good day on Saturday.

Iowa 24 - ISU 14.

Ferentz ball at its finest, playing for field position and taking absolutely zero chances. The D comes up big several times with INT's and a forced fumble.

I agree with this pretty much. Combat their emotion with pure vanilla football where our physical superiority shines through. However, I think we have 3-4 INTs, and win 35-0 on the backs of our defense. On offense our line will push them around and Coker will have a good game.

I have a nervous feeling in me for this game, and I can't seem to get it to go away. With Pitt coming to town the next week, the players could look past this game. Hopefully KF keeps their heads low and Iowa comes in with something to play for.

Prediction:
Iowa-31
ISU-10
Closer game than the score shows.

This UNI team is better than the 2009 version. ISU had Hicks, Darks, Matt T, and Leing suspended on Friday for the UNI game, all impact players and all but 1 a starter. Add in KO got dinged and we had the backup linebacker ejected from the game. We also lost Maggitt for a considerable amount of time. Rump played limited snaps after surgery earlier in the week. All but Maggitt will be back. Thats 7 starters. At one time last night we had 3-4 redshirt freshman on the oline. The ISU team you saw last night is not the one you will see Saturday.

resting 'em up for the superbowl, no doubt. all these phony suspensions, and phony injuries, and perhaps phony moxy, dunno about that. dadgum coach 'll have 'em ready to play, he'll have em coached up, and we'll see some real cyclown footbawl come saturday, y'all.

Iowa St's offense was poor against UNI. They have a lot of work to do on the O-line and running game. Steele is not an accurate thrower at all, but he can buy some time with his feet to keep plays alive. ISU's D is decent however and should slow down the Hawks a bit at least. This one won't be put away until the 4th quarter I think, but Iowa wins relatively comfortably 24-13.

This feels like a music critic in 1968 predicting the Beatles will become a better band because Pete Best is rejoining the group.

Was it only two seasons ago ISU fans were over confident about beating Iowa after they had to block 2 field goals to beat UNI the week before? As for Jantz he was **** for 3 quarters but who thought he would set the world on fire in week 1? Showed his stuff in the 4th quarter though.

real moxy, no doubt.

Not over confident at all, I expect a hard game like every year but unless you had some all Big 12 guys that were out that game and coming back I fail to see that they will make a big impact. And Jantz did have a rough game for 3 quarters so why do you think he will play like he did in the 4th as opposed to quarters 1-3?

I wouldn't knock ISU for only beating UNI by 1 point. But having watched a good portion of the game online, they just don't appear to be an overly talented team, especially offensively. There are little weapons on the offensive side of the ball. Jantz has a long ways to go before he will be a solid D1 QB. He is very inaccurate, and that will be trouble with the schedule ISU has. I think the defense though was not bad. They seem to have some athletes and could keep ISU in some games while the offense works out some kinks. Overall though I would be pretty surprised to see ISU beat Iowa Saturday. At this point the talent gap is pretty noticeable. I don't think we'll see the blowouts like we had each of the last 2 years, but I think ISU will once again struggle to score a TD against Iowa's 1st team D (something they haven't accomplished for 4 straight games).

As an Iowa fan how do you even guage your team at this point? Tennessee Tech is one of the worst FCS schools in the country, they got abused by Murray State last season. Not going to take away anything from Iowa they won comfortably, but ISU would have done so also against such an aweful team. As for Jantz, I can't guage him at this point. Had a great 4th quarter but with the 4 redshirt freshman on the oline he ran for his life. Hicks and KO will be back and they are the anchors to our oline. Again don't fool yourself ISU Saturday is not the ISU last night, key players were out last night in key positions. How would Iowa do without Ghettis or Reiff when one goes down with injury and the other is suspended the night before a game? Iowa would also struggle up front. Jantz will be good once the solidarity exists in the oline.

i believe we had the exact scenerio happen in the '09 Clown game with Bulaga being out and two guys returning from being out (Calloway and Vandevelde). so major lack of 'solidarity'. i think the OL fared ok for that game.

i'll bottom line it for ya: y'alls OL sux.

TTU is definitely not one of the worst FCS schools in the country this year. You do realize they went 5-6 last year with 3 close loses, a blow out to TCU and then 2 other games they lost by a good margin? Being one of the worst FCS teams would put up a record closer to 2 wins. Also, they returned every single starter except 1. They are a very experienced team overall.

Tennessee Tech was 5-6 last year, so hardly "one of the worst FCS schools in the country". They also returned 21 of 22 starters from last year's team.
