Iowa Slowly Becoming Nation's Cinderella Story!

Well, maybe not slowly. With McCaffery's ejection during the Wisconsin game & getting national attention & following it up with a BIG win in Columbus. Iowa is now on the national radar & receiving huge props from media as well as other team's fans. Was the ejection worth it? It may have been & pay dividends for Fran & Iowa going further. There has not been this amount of excitement for years & it's pretty damn fun!

Thoughts on the tighter rules change as far as fouls called. Yes, it may mess up the flow of a game on occasion, but I think with Iowa's personnel & depth, this can actually benefit a team like Iowa. This team has athletic guys with length that can slash & drive to the hoop. Calling a game tight can really help a team like Iowa, especially when they can afford to play a little more aggressive D with depth. Iowa playing 10-11 deep can afford a few more fouls than teams like Ohio St or Iowa St that only go 7-8 deep. It's a subtle point but can have a huge impact on a game. I think yesterday's game actually had a pretty good flow to it. I think the guys on the Iowa team are now gelling more & reading each other better. I worried about that playing so many, but again, I think it's going to help going down the line with the rule changes.

I have to think a little national media hype should help with recruiting. Anyone think we land another recruit we were not expecting?

This has been in the back of my mind as well. I can't help but wonder if Ulis is not 2nd guessing his decision. Is Fran still in on Josh Cunningham? You would think his game would fit right in on this team next season.

Cinderella would somehow indicate were out of nowhere... an underdog that everyone should be looking past..

We aren't Cinderella.... we are the Big Bad Wolf.

I kinda think of Cinderella as a one hit wonder. This thing is being built to stay. Expect Iowa in the top 1/2 of the Conf for years to come now.

I think we are more the current media darling than a cinderella. It is a slim distinction of course.

Yes, usually Cinderella's are the up-and-comer mid major or some team from a lesser conference that come from nowhere. I agree. But, Iowa has done anything for the last 7 years and was looked at as a W by other teams when looking at their schedule's. I guess it's that Iowa now has legitimacy. To us, we have seen it coming the past few years, but now other teams media, coaches & fans are taking notice.

I do believe you are on to something, Melrose, friend of mine said that Clark Kellogg, former OSU player, an All American and one of my favorite players at the time, said that Aaron White was his favorite college player to watch.....

Someone posted yesterday that a prominent sportswriter, can't remember who, had some very good things to say about the Hawks. He said that was the best on the road comeback and win he has seen all season and he also mentioned the the Hawks are a beautiful basketball team, I imagine he meant to watch.....

We are attracting a ton of attention now and might be becoming the Nation's Cinderella team, especially after the all time low of the Lick years....

I would imagine that a lot of recruits watched the game and would like to play Hawkeye style basketball.....

We are the talk of the town right now....

Iowa went from 60-1 to win the national championship 2 weeks ago to 30-1 now...as are Iowa State and Wichita State.

Michigan State (favorite) 4-1
Wisconsin 10-1
Ohio State 20-1
Michigan 75-1

Side Note - Iowa State is favored by 2 tonight with Kane being questionable.

I don't know about Cinderella. I'd go with "Breath of Fresh Air". Iowa is talented, fun to watch with their running style even after made shots, and play tough defense (rare for a running team).

Those are traits not many college teams have in today's game.

See there was this big pumpkin, and these two really ugly women, and this mean old woman, and ...

Don't forget the mice, doclee...the mice!
