Iowa sets School Record for Blocks in a Game w/ 13.

Those #13 BB blocks were more than the # of blocks in some of last season's FB games....

I was told yesterday our 3 pt FG% defensive is misleading because of our poor interior defense and if I only watched the game I would see their guards getting into the lane and scoring with ease.

I watched the game. I didn't see that, but I did see a Gabe block party!

The individual record is 9 by Acie Earl. He did it versus Wisconsin on January 29, 1992.

GO HAWKS!!!

While I agree that Gabe had a good game last night, there is still plenty of room for improvement. At one point, my teenage daughter actually yelled at the screen "what the heck is Gabe doing now?" He got out of position, and actually screened Clemmons off his man as the Illini ball handler drove toward the hoop. I still think it would be a wise move to redshirt Gabe next season and let him continue to learn the game. I think it would pay off very nicely in the following two years. Once Gabes knowledge catches up to his physical ability, he will be a real force in the game.

Gabe does get out of position a lot especially when teams draw him away from the hoop, however I'm completely against redshirting him next year. I think we have a chance to be very good next year, and we're going to need Gabe as a valuable back up. I don't want to be stuck playing McCabe and Basabe up front when Woody gets in foul trouble next year.

I say start the season with Gabe wearing the red shirt, and if it proves to be a problem, yank it off.

How so? So he doesn't get to play against what I suspect will once again be a cupcake preseason schedule.

At this point, I don't see the benefit of redshirting him, it will make that class heavy in numbers.
Gabe will continue to progress, but will a full season on the bench help him? I'm not sure, I only see him in games.
Give him time to get better in the non-conf next year.
