IOWA RELEASES MEN’S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE

nothing like getting to know your team early!! I really like BTN but this sucks! anybody know if they will be doing replays? Not being cheap, but I dont like being held hostage either.

Including the exhibition, only 3 of the 14 first contests will be on TV. Two on BTN and the Clemson game on ESPNU. This is killing Iowa bb. I know it is nothing new,but I will rail against it every year.

I'm with you. Some people will inevitably call me a crybaby or a tightwad for not wanting to shell out the $$$ to pay for streaming, but this BTN.COM stuff is getting worse and worse every year, just as I expected.

Starting out, most of our games were televised on BTN.
Then, a few of the games were on BTN.com, but the streaming was free.
Then, the BTN started to charge for online streaming.
Now, more and more of the games are going to BTN.com.

I'm not sure what the prices for streaming are, but I'm going to predict that will increase each year as well. And for streaming that doesn't seem to work a lot of the time, anyway. This is horse puckey.

As another poster said, I'm glad we have the BTN during football season, but during basketball season, it's the bane of my existence.

heres my theory:

MC22 picked up most if not all of the BTN.com games last year. mediacom also just donated a ton of money for the naming rights to our court.

being as though, from what i can tell, we have 50% more games on btn.com this year than the next highest team, i think that learfield and the AD worked with the BTN to give these btn.com games the go-ahead, which allows mediacom to step in and pick up these broadcast for MC22. this gives mediacom a definite advantage over the satellite providers in the state of iowa.

You are a cheapa$$, tighwad! ;):D

Looks like I will be heading over to Mom's house to watch games on Mediacom. I made the switch to Imon during the first BTN/Mediacom showdown. Looks like I picked the wrong horse.

This has got to be part of it, and I assume that there was a backroom deal years ago that got BTN on Mediacom that included such promises.

TV is BTN.com for a lot of non-conf games, which really sucks.

I am really angry that 9 of iowa's games will be BTN.com. this really sucks. this is the most that they ever have done. this is what i hate about BTN. surely there has to be a way to get more games on tv. watching at BTN.com would not be bad, if you didn't have to pay for it. I already pay for the tv network. i shouldn't have to pay to watch it over the internet.

the problem with this is there are a few of us where mediacom is NOT an option in our towns, because we co-op cable systems. Ours refuses to carry BTN. it would be nice if the coop cables could actually strike a deal with mediacom to pick up their feeds of games.

but that won't help me as i have the dish network.

i agree, it sucks for everyone out of state and many people in-state, but rights to games are a main reason why we get a huge paycheck from the BTN every year. theres no free lunch.

the fact that we have NINE games on BTN makes me think that there was some backroom deal with MC22

wow, some of you have Mediacom for TV ... that's crazy

The games online is fine by me BTW, because we're ditching satellite when our contract is up next summer and going exclusively internet-based for our at-home entertainment

just need a proxy outside the US

That is ridiculous. Another way for the BTN to get more money out of fans and it definitely doesn't help Fran's/Iowa's cause in getting this thing turned around. And we hear/see nothing from Barta on this??
