Iowa Releases 2013-2014 Hoops Schedule

I see this team having a road warrior mentality......12-1 in non-conference with a loss to KU, and 15-3 in the league with losses at MSU, Michigan and OSU.....27-4 overall...#2 seed.

Love the optimism, and God do I hope you are right!!

I'm at 12-1 and 14-4 equaling 26-5 and a 2 seed after winning the BTT...drop to a 3 seed if we don't win BTT. We pretty much agree other than I have us splitting Kansas and ISU...thinking we beat Kansas early in the season. I also have us splitting the road games at WI and IN...probably losing at IN later in the year.

No matter what the final record I can easily say I haven't been this stoked for an upcoming season in quite some time and you can rest assured I already have the home games blocked off on the calendar and my camera will be ready to catch the action :)

One additional note for those who might be interested in a double-feature. The Men's & Women's BBall squads look to both have home games scheduled for Nov. 3rd & 10th so grab a hot dog or an ice-cream and plan to stay awhile.

We would all love to see it and the possibility exists. Fran ran some teams to death last year with substitutions. It will be worse for them this year. Hopefully we remain healthy......

I love your enthusiasm, Windsor.....

I am so excited for bball season its ridiculous. If we could swap Saturday for the first bball game instead of football game that would be amazing

me too.

also, and i hate to be that guy cause i'm loving this b-ball team, but there are some ridiculous homers in this thread. #2 seed? seriously?

don't get me wrong, i'd love to see it happen, but there are just too many question marks with this team to expect that kind of dominance.

10-8 in the BIG would be awesome with the lot that we're playing.

Real quick run through: 10-8 B1G and 21-10 overall. 6 seed NCAA

My 30-second scan = 22-9 / 11-7 -- we agree on 11-2 in non-con (I have 1 loss at Atlantis and losing at ISU or against ND)

As tough as B1G is, if get a couple wins in BTT that's a 5-seed at 24-9.

Hotel just got booked for Uthoff's return to Madison.

The more the merrier Hawk fans, I can't wait to see Fran own Bo again.

I got 2 losses in the noncon, and 8 in conference. I always look at what I think will happen then add one loss.

That start time 6:30 can't be right for a Sunday game can it? Sunday games are usually early. That looks like a Saturday tip off time. Referring to the game at Wisconsin

I think 2-1 in Atlantis would be a good result and then we split with ND/ISU. The rest I think are solid wins.

In the B1G, the Hawks lose @MSU, and @Mich. The toss-ups are @OSU, @Wisc and @Ind and home against MSU and Mich. My prediction here is we go 3-2 in the toss-ups. The rest I think we can win.

So I'm thinking 11-2 in non-con, 14-4 in the B1G (2nd/3rd) and 2-1 in the BTT for a total of 27-7. That should be good enough for a 2/3 seed.

Just my 2¢ .. .. and maybe not worth that!! :D

GO HAWKS!!!

I hope they are considering Central Michigan for that TBD game. It would be neat to see Keno Davis and Kevin Gamble back in Carver. They did lose their top scorer from last season but a bulk of the minutes were played by freshman, so they could be an improved team.

Since non conference RPI was such a huge issue last season I had to look this up:

UNC - Wilmington (9-20)
Nebraska - Omaha (10-19)
Maryland - Eastern Shore (2-26)
TBD
Penn (9-22)
(neutral) Xavier (17-14)
(neutral) *Tennessee (20-12)
(neutral) *UTEP (18-14)
(neutral) ***Kansas (29-5)
(neutral) ***Villanova (19-13)
Notre Dame (25-9)
(neutral) Drake (14-17)
Fairleigh Dickinson (7-24)
@ Iowa State (22-11)
Arkansas - Pine Bluff (16-14)

Overall 2012 record 163-220 (.426) using Tennessee and Kansas as potential opponents and using regular season record (RPI record is formulated different). Last year it was 167-229 (.421) so we are not seeing much improvement in the non conference SOS. Where it can help itself is winning the neutral court games and at Iowa State.

So with some of the predictions I have seen flying around you might want to keep in mind Iowa may be in for another challenge at the end of the year with their RPI. Probably will not keep them out of the tournament but could have a huge impact on their seeding.

Don't be a Debbie Downer! WE R BACK!!!

Also, Iowa's conference RPI should be stronger this year as well since OSU, MSU and Michigan are back on the schedule two times each.
