Iowa Recruiting: This Is An Alarming Thought

Correct me if I'm wrong but Betts and Kasper were Hayden Fry recruits that Kirk inherited. You should adjust your numbers accordingly.
19 for Hayden Fry
4 for Kirk Ferentz

True but that's now how it is recorded in the Iowa archives so I followed ******. You could also probably add another year on to the Ferentz era (17) with no additions likely to be added this coming NFL draft as well.

Pretty telling of position priorities and approach to the game in my opinion when you consider the length of time this covers.

The thread title is "Iowa recruiting", so I was looking at it from the aspect of who recruited those players.

Let's see. You said "go pro" and not "go to the NFL". So here's a list of running backs, wide receivers and quarterbacks: Shonn Greene, Jewel Hampton (yeah, digdn't finish at Iowa but did start there), Ricki Stanzi (didn't play much but was making the $$$), Drew Tate, Albert Young, Brad Banks, Kahlil Hill, CJ Jones, Kevin Kasper. Tim Dodge and Jason Manson played in the Arena League.

Oh, wait. I guess these guys "cannot hope to go pro".

Okay, I'll take the bait and say you are right.

But players coming to a school because guys at that position go pro are not going to flock to Iowa because of any of the guys you mentioned, save Greene. And that really was the reason for the comments on this thread about going pro, wasn't it. We can draw guys to Iowa by selling OLs on the idea they can go pro after developing at Iowa. I don't think we can sell anyone at WR because Kevin Kasper went pro from Iowa. T

Don't get me wrong, as I like Kasper. Your argument is foolhardy, though. But you win the argument, because they went pro and they went to Iowa. You made a stupid case, but you were correct.
