Iowa or Iowa State?

Who pulls the trigger first? Pretty obvious to most that both coaches aren't getting it done. Both have about 5 years left on their contracts. Both have sizeable buyouts in relation to revenue.

ISU has to fire CPR. Iowa has a few more years of mediocre performance before Capt gets the boot. Unfortunately, we're going bowling which most fans think is a measure of success.

This is a futuristic post - it's now 10:18 AM and this post was sent at 11:07 AM. I'll wait to respond until time catches up. Maybe this is an example of Iowa and ISU putting football back in time.

This is correct.

Rhoads will be canned following next year after he only wins 2 or 3 games again (one of which will be against Iowa).

I think KF has at least 2 more years, barring a total collapse next season (which given what the roster is shaping up to look like is entirely possible), but once again the schedule is so freaking easy that a chipmunk with severe brain trauma could lead us to 6-6 again and another toilet bowl.

CPR should be fired after this season but I suspect he will have youth and injuries to buy himself another year. I don't think it will work, however and he will be let go after next season especially after the AD has to invest in tarps.

KF will definitely get next year and the schedule is supposed to be quite easy again from what I understand. He'll win 7 games and the beat will go on.

I don't know that I'd say 'most' fans. 'Many", for sure, but I think the percentage is getting lower and lower every year.

i think I've finally figured out Paw's coaching philosophy. He works his teams so they peak in game 3 typically....then it's all down hill from there. Losing to Kansas is well, bad.

Don't forget the officials are conspiring against ISU too. It's miracle they've won 2 games since they probably start in a 14 point hole every game due to the bias. Don't you know that costs coaches and AD's their jobs??

How many years are you going to buy into the youth and injury excuse? It has been around forever in regards to the Cyclone program. ISU fired the best coach they have had, or will ever have in McCarney. ISU may as well hire a MAC assistant for about $400,000 a year and save the money to use on their basketball program. The harsh reality is ISU football is horrible, has always been horrible, and will continue to be horrible. The fact that Iowa was able to lose in Kinnick to that fricking joke of a program (ISU) should have gotten Ferentz fired too.

Mac was a good coach. He made people care after they didn't for a long, long time. However he isn't the best coach ISU has ever had.

You want a good example of the "we beat them...who beat them...who beat them..." formula

2014 NDSU beat ISU, ISU beat IOWA, IOWA beat UNI, UNI beat NDSU

full round robin.

All of those teams are garbage, so who cares?

BTW, NDSU has a higher Sagarin rating than any team that Iowa has played this year.

He is over the past 30 years. I mean you have to go waaaaaaaay back to even come close to having anyone 1/2 as good as Mac. Walking into Chizik's team/recruits I think any new coach was gonna win 6/7 games a year for the first couple years.

If I'm Pollard I would be thinking this is an ideal time to make a switch. Let's assume they finally get lucky and get a good hire that shows signs of better things ahead. To catch the other in-state program in a down cycle is the best time to try to move the axis of power needle especially as it relates to garnering more attention from the in-state prospects.

Not saying this is likely but I wouldn't fall off my chair if Pollard beat Barta to the punch on figuring out a way from beneath the overhanging contract in their football program. He likes to beat Iowa to the punch on numerous things as we know. I think there is an advantage to the program that acts first especially if you're the program trying to make up ground vs. your in-state rival. The best scenario for ISU would be making a good hire in the near term and then watching Iowa continue in mediocrity for several more years under the same regime.

How each of these teams finish out the season will certainly be a factor in any urgency to act. If both programs continue to struggle I'm thinking ISU takes action first based on the profiles of each program's AD.

PR will most likely be gone before Kirk. Pollardhas over and over stated his supported of what PR is doing. Of course, he has to publically support him since he hired him and since he gave him the contract extension ... I think PR gets one more year and if the team continues down its current path Pollard will need to make a change. I am "guessing" Kirk is here for 2 more years?

I'm not sure why so many think Polturd will fire Rhoads. The guy wouldn't fire McDermott, and he was God awful, and attendance was pathetic for BB.

No way can ISU afford to do this SEZ expansion AND buyout Rhoads. They don't even have all the money yet to complete the SEZ, let alone the 5-6 Mil to buyout Rhoads. Plus Polturd just embarrassed himself and spouted conspiracy theories to give his coach cover. No way he then turn around and fire him.

Both schools are stuck with their coaches for a MINIMUM of 2 more years.
