Iowa Offers Trevon Young

If the coaching staff wants him, then I am onboard.

I think a bigger point is looking at how "right" the staff was on Trevon to begin with. If I remember right, he didn't have another major offer (including ISU). AFter one year of JUCO, here come other teams a knocking. This staff knows talent. I love the fact that when they see it, they offer, no matter if other schools are or not. They don't care if they are 2*, only have an offer from UNI or other FCS schools. If they like a kid, they go after him, other peoples opinions be d@mned. No staff is perfect at projecting talent, but this staff has a pretty freaking good track record of being right, way more often then being wrong.

I believe he was a 4 star recruit out of HS, and committed to Iowa pretty early, warding off other offers. I know he was considered in the top 2 prospects in Iowa that year.

Scout - 2 star 8th in state
Rivals - 3star 3rd in state
ESPN - 3 star
247 i dont get the composite vs regular - on one he was 4 star other a 3 star. 4th in state composite ...other 1st

i doubt that will be the defining issue as to where he goes. their relationship goes way back.

The coaches went months without contacting him this fall and summer. The coaching staff will have to make him understand why they waited while other schools felt comfortable with him. If I were him, I'd feel like Louisville believed I'd changed and Iowa hadn't but was forced to offer because of the other offers and visits. Idk, I def hope I'm wrong. He does have to understand that he had to prove that he has learned from his mistakes though.

If he has better character than he has shown in the past, he may come to Iowa. Sure seemed like he wanted to before. He dealt with the affects of his actions. If a school like louisville never waivered, maybe that says something about their program. I'm sure he knows the character of our coaching staff.

Committing early doesn't ward off other offers...just ask Mr. Pierschbacher. Telling them "no" when they come calling, does.

Reports via Ole Miss recruiting guy that Trevon Young says Ole Miss leads Lousville and Iowa for Trevon Young. But, he is headed to Louisville now.

Louisville insider @ 247 registered his Crystal Ball prediction as Louisville today.

Seems like each side thinks he is theirs.

Says he should sign (regardless of where) this next week.

No mention of ISU.

didn't see that coming. wonder if he harbors any bad feelings towards Iowa like Coe did.

I have a feeling the staff waited to long to offer

Part of learning from your past and growing up is owning your actions and being accountable for the consequences. Now, no one can blame the kid if he's ready to forever leave that chapter of his life behind. And that may mean Iowa has no shot. And there are a lot of other reasons he may choose not to play at Iowa. But if that choice were because he: a) didn't understand the coaches' decisions in his recruitment or b) thought that he was somehow the one wronged, then I'd have to question whether the lessons that should have been learned were.

Despite your limited use of punctuation...I say this post times ten. Iowa has made their plea to Trevon...KF running over to see him is proof alone that we want the kid and we are ready to welcome him to the family. If he choses not to go to Iowa...well, thats his choice and he's entitled to it. If he comes out and harbors ill will because Iowa pulled his scholly last year, well, he's learned nothing. The world is a bigger place than what's in Trevon's head, and Iowa pulling the scholly was a good decision and one that would be made over and over...I hope he's learned that, accepted that, and recognizes he has to own the decisions he made that led to it. There are alot of positives to entertain in staying at Iowa...he has a legitimate shot to play right away...mostly as a third down pass rusher and spread offense rusher. He stays close so his parents/friends can watch him play...and he goes into a program that grooms players for the NFL. Come T...come to Iowa.

One thing that could be in Iowas favor over UL and Ole Miss is location as his mom told ISU scout guy she wants him to stay close to home.

Damn...the kid must have had some issues with Iowa pulling the scholly. Well, it happens. Good luck T...wish you well, but hope you realize, it was your fault the scholly was pulled...live and learn.
