Iowa Offers Cedar Falls WR Logan Wolf

So where are all the Power 5 offers then? Seriously this is what we are offering at WR? Poaching UNI recruits.

I was wrong. I'm sorry.

I've been told by a source that Logan Wolf is officially visiting Iowa today. Again, I really like this kid. Think Todd Blythe/Clinton Solomon type.

He looks like a decent prospect. Athleticism and suddenness appear fairly average, but I love the fact that he's a "hands catcher." He really plucks the ball.

I see the Blythe comparison. He also reminds me a bit of a leaner Ben Skowronek.

UNI has had more receivers in the NFL than we have through the years. Fountain as we speak. Furrey and Berlin also played. I can’t remember a player from Iowa playing outside a cup of coffee

Dedric Ward was a good one, too. Played in the NFL for about ten years. Kenny Shedd had a cup of coffee.

Gotta go back to Tim Dwight to find the last one for Iowa who had a decent 10 year NFL career.

It’s a position where Iowa has to have maximum development - ie Kasper, Hill, Mo Brown, Hinkel, Solomon, McNutt, DJK, KMM, VandeBerg.

So...exactly what is this kid waiting for in committing? UNI or Iowa...somewhat of a no-brainer right?

UNI will let him try playing basketball and football. To my knowledge, that's not on the table at Iowa.

Also, like Jestin Jacobs building a relationship with Iowa that led to him turning down a late push from Ohio State, UNI has believed in Wolf early and built a relationship with him over time.

And UNI has more of a track record with receivers in the NFL

I understand something like baseball and basketball, but I have my doubts he could handle football/basketball more than one season. And even if he could get a walk spot at iowa, he would stand a much better chance getting playing time in basketball at Northern Iowa. The two sports overlap for almost two months too. Which sport does he prioritize?

I saw his film. I didn't see Bo Jackson on tape. I find it hard to believe he can play those two sports at UNI. At this level...you can't compete against guys working on one sport all year around. I just don't see it happening in Football / Basketball...like others are saying...baseball maybe...but even that is tough...unless you are Kyler Murray.

6'4 200.... Why weren't we in on him sooner? Hope he isn't too entrenched with UNI to flip. Or is he dead set on playing 2 sports and obviously UNI would be more apt to making that a reality for him.

Intrigued by this kid. The 2-sport component really seems like a tough ask for D1 (FBS) programs. Especially when the 2 are football and basketball, at universities that have high aspirations for both...

Are there currently many FBS football guys also (simultaneously) playing basketball? I know some guys have quit one for the other, but both seem like a long shot.

So Rob, what is Kirk's rule now with Iowa commits who then take other visits?

I think it was reported that he made an exception for Jacobs visiting Ohio St ??

You see where I am going with this? How does Kirk square HIS policy with him attempting to poach other teams' commits?

To my understanding KF and staff reach out and if a commit states they are committed and no thanks they let it be but if door open they pursue. I don’t see anything wrong with this as a huge decision. They don’t slim and are upfront, from what I hear on boards but I don’t know jack so take it for what it’s worth.

That's on the coaches of those teams, not Kirk. If they have policies in place then their commits should abide by those.

So Kirk will accept a kid with open arms that breaks a commitment? as long as he doesn't do it to Kirk?
Why would Kirk encourage kids to do this?

Because this makes no sense if people are defending Kirk as a man of integrity. Please explain?

You are WAAAAAAY over thinking this.

No not really. Just say it is my job to remind those (who give a damn) that Kirk is not infallible. Far from it. Someone has to do it. ;)

And in this case I wonder if his hypocritical policy actually costs us higher-rated recruits? It smacks of insecurity about his ability to recruit and sell his program. It shouldn't be that way should it? Kirk and his staff have a lot to offer? Correct?
