IOWA-Northern Iowa official game thread

Only thing after this game is I'd like to see the O go deep and up top more... just to keep the D honest. That short sideways stuff is generally a waste, and if they keep everything short, the opponent just brings everybody up and the Hawks will struggle all year to move the ball.

the good:
Bo "jack" Bower, kid is going to be a stud. The plays where the WRs ran the ball ACTUALLY WORKED!!!! The defensive line wrecked havoc all day long. You can tell that Tevaun Smith has finally "gotten it" and will probably have a breakout year. Jake didn't throw any picks and completed over 75% of his passes. Over 400 yards of offense. Didn't get owned by a 1aa team like another team in the state :D

the bad:
pass coverage, I don't think I need to go into anymore detail. Does Jake ever not just hit the check down? Seriously, not audibles that were passes, UNI had Iowa's audibles pegged from the get go and knew it was a run like everyone else did. For a deep stable of HBs and a great offensive line anchored by a LT with the strength of a demigod, under 3.5 yards per carry is anything but acceptable. Kirk got outcoached badly by Farley. Seriously, throw the ball deep once in awhile.

verdict:
UNI fears no BCS level team, they've proven that for several years now. UNI outplayed Iowa, Farley outcoached Ferentz. Unforced errors were possibly the deciding factor in this game. LOTS of adjustments need to be made. Someone please teach the LBs how to play pass coverage. Chalk this one up in the "a win is a win but........." category.
