There goes one of the wins the Clowns were counting on. Their vaunted offense sputtered, coughed and stalled. Didn't help that Buzard got hurt early. And their defense was what we expected. Almost none existent.

Judging the fortunes of your season based on first game performance has made a fool of many a football fan. Yes, we have much work to do but when haven't most Iowa teams......especially early in the season.
Who would have guessed the 2009 season outcome based on our UNI first game performance or another year when we beat UNI more convincingly but go on to a sub par year overall?

Ahhh, the old "chugger" comeback. Yep, I've been pretty clear that I think, overall, KF is a good coach. I've also been pretty clear that he has some faults I don't like.
But I'll repeat it again for you, in my opinion, the pros*out way the coins.
Narrative, sometimes trumps facts for some.

I don't post much on this, because there's no reason to, really, I suck... But here's one for what it's worth. That tksirius poster - powers that be keeping him around for comedic value? I don't get it. A post like that on any site I would manage = instant ban. No reason for it, especially after a tough 1st game - our newish defense against a quality team that has a decent offense... Head scratcher...

Good win overall. Red zone O was better today than it's been in awhile. Only 2 real mistakes on O...Hillyer's fumble and Scherf's false start in the red zone. Plenty to clean up in LB pass coverage, but the next two weeks should allow for that as neither Ball State or the Clowns present much in the way of TE or RB pass catchers that will present the kinds of issues that Johnson presented today.
Bower and the DL looked really good. We stayed healthy. Not a whole lot to be disappointed in.
