Iowa Lands 1st Commitment in '22 Class

It appears as though we are attempting to field a defense of only DEs! :)
@ 235, he could realistically add 20 pounds of muscle every year and come rolling in at a lean 300 pounds. So he could play inside or out, just depends on his growth.
He's going to have to get on a long term weight gain and lifting program, but he has the time to make it so he walks in and starts day one.

Possibly another AJ Epenesa type of player? Kid sounds like he is gonna be a beast. According to link, already 6’5” and 235 lbs. as a freshman and another weight room junkie. Who knows, may start sooner than AJ did. As mentioned earlier “Grave Digger” was suggested as a nickname. I’m gonna through “The Undertaker” out there as my selection.

Or "Tombstone" like Richard Jackson in the old AFL.

There's a good chance he'd be playing for different coaches by the time he's a senior, for sure a new head coach even before his senior year.

My granddaughter is a couple years ahead of him in school. With Fisher and now Graves becoming HAWKS this is gonna be so fun to watch the development of these two local players.. Both will be first class Hawkeyes and hoping they become key contributers one day.

Sweiter runs a great weight program and has turned a lot of boys into men over the years so Graves is in good hands until Doyle takes over. Not sure if this is done elsewhere, but one cool thing he has done for years is invite other schools in during the off season for a weight lifting competition with public attendance. Gives em another incentive to work hard and they always dominate the event.

OMG! How can a kid be that big and talented at that age? It is one thing to be big, but another to grasp the game or do what is asked or expected. He could end up being a 5* by the time he's done in HS. Iowa still has to keep him, though. He might be young now with Iowa tunnel vision glasses on. This could change as he gets older and understands how college football works or what is in his best interest.

Hopefully he stays a Hawk.

Given what he and his coach have said, I'd be absolutely shocked if he flipped. I get the feeling even Nick and Dabo wouldn't get anywhere with him.

Unfortunately or fortunately, depending how you look at it, recruiting services don’t hand out stars unless a player is actively pursuing them by going to major camps and official visits and flashing every offer on twitter. If he shuts down his recruiting, and only goes to small regional camps, he’ll never get beyond 4 stars or maybe since he’s from a tiny town and plays tiny schools, won’t move beyond 3

I'm sure he's aware of that and doesn't care a bit.

If he's a beast that falls off the radar - all the better for the Hawks.

I like to hear that. Hopefully Iowa doesn't just tank the next few years. That might be the only deal breaker, but I don't see that happening. Ferentz is always competitive and Iowa is always a hard out.

Some people are born Hawks.
That's just how it is.
Absolutely nothing wrong with a young man knowing exactly what he wants, where he wants to go. It shows maturity.
