Iowa is going to get TRUCKED by Wisconsin

Long time listener, first time caller.

I am not sure they are going to get this thing turned around in time for them. Wisky is playing better than I thought they would be this year.

How come the TE's don't seem to be a big part of Iowa's offense? We've in the past have had multiple targets to the TE's. I realize Kittle got that wide open catch & TD, but not much TE involvement after that. Iowa needs to get them involved more. You'd think they could run some kind of routes to get them open.

AGAIN, WR's at Iowa!! Why is it always a question at Iowa. Is it bad routes they have these guys trying to run or is it that they can't create separation? Seriously, was Rutger's d-back's that good? I think not being able to get the WR involved yesterday really hurt Iowa. There's not a balance.

What's up with the interior D line run defense? Need to get that shored up.

Again, I don't understand deferring the coin toss.

Hold on, I think Rutger's just had another hold on the outside! Really seemed like they were getting away with a LOT of holds yesterday. I usually don't comment on refs asusually the game will play itself out over the course of a game, but this was glaring to me at times.

That's it, carry on!

You are correct on all counts. Most worrisome to me is: First no interior run defense. Teams seem to be able to plow right up the middle at will.
Second is WR separation. CJ had plenty of time in the pocket, then had to eat the ball cause no one was open. He's going to get hurt eventually doing that.

We got trouble.

With our returning talent..why do we still start out so slow and rusty..How do these other teams do it..so damn frustrating

Correct on all points, but after watching games all over yesterday, we aren't the only ones with trouble.

Stanford looked pretty rough. LSU too. MSU and Nebby, and Cal. Yesterday's games on TV were all pretty ugly, and running down the middle is something a lot of teams are having success with against 4 - 3 defenses. Something has changed offensively, and defenses haven't caught up.

Thanks for talking me off the cliff..good points

We would lose to every team you listed by 30 with the exception of Nebraska. They will only beat us by 10 or so. You can't compare our struggles to any of those teams we played Rutgers.

Dammit!...now I'm back on the cliff

Our DL is not being aggressive. They aren't getting a good jump off the snap and the OL is getting into them lower. I'm really surprised that teams can attack us in the middle with Jaleel and Nathan. These guys were tree stumps last year. I will tell you, our DE's aren't making alot of plays in the run game either. M. Nelson's lateral quickness is questionable and Hesse is now starting to look like Hesse. Nate Meier made plays and had some speed to the ball...even inside. That being said, on a few of their good runs Nathan B was held in a big way...and it was right in the hole. Some really poor officiating.

I disagree with that caller. Iowa plays the bad-gerd though every year they play. Iowa has won 7 of the last 12. Average score Iowa 22 bad-gers 16. It may be a tough game, but I think Iowa pulls this one out. This is an great rivalry and Iowa always plays hard in it.

It all depends on which Wisconsin team shows up. The one that beat LSU and MSU, or the one who barely beat Georgia State.

Wisconsin would beat Iowa 28-0 right now with stave as QB handing it to clement and him running on every play. There's something devastatingly wrong with Iowa run defense which is normally a strength. Really there's no excuse and I can't put my finger on the reason. jewell and Jaleel Johnson are all big ten type players. Although Jewell is having an amazing year, Jaleel Johnson and bazata are getting killed and I can't understand why, I've been more impressed with the nelsons than Jaleel who has thought to be an early round draft pick.

Wisconsin will get exposed next week by Michigan. Iowa will continue to get better as the season goes, not sure why Iowa always starts so slow. Like most Iowa vs Wisconsin games it will be close and the team that takes care of the ball will win. Last year Iowa won all of their close games and were probably fortunate to beat Pitt, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. Unfortunately these things have a way of evening out over the years. Playing the kind of football that KF does will lead to games like yesterday against Rutgers.

What's funny is that this is the same logic Badger fans had after sneaking by GSU and Michigan State rolling ND last week. The great part about football is you just have to be the best team on the field any given day.

In the first 4 games this year Iowa has given up a combined 54 points. That is actually down from last year when they gave up 71 in the first 4 against competition of similar quality. So where it counts most the defense has improved, along with the special teams. Even with that Iowa only gave up 6 to them last year. I definitely don't ser Iowa giving up a lot of points this year either.

Thirty points is a lot. I'll take that bet. What's your wager.

I'm not happy with Iowa's performance, and I don't expect them to win the West this year. But they'll be in competitive. Probably third or second. Wisconsin will run away and hide with the league the way they are playing this year. Then get smoked by OSU.

Iowa's problem has been the offense. The defense has been good, but we are getting gashed up the middle and we lack speed to the edge. The defense can get better and fix some of the things they need to, but the offense needs to step up. The offense looks like they're "thinking" instead of playing. I would suggest going up tempo so that they stop thinking and just play. If they can get into a rhythm, then than builds confidence and confidence will allow to slow down and play more ball control.

The WR's are still an issue in getting open, but CJ needs to take off, then, and he isn't doing that. The offense is just out of sync.

The way the hawks play defense many times Jewell the middle lbkr is the only one in the middle. Opponents have 4 wideouts sometimes or 3 wideouts and one in motion and take two or the hawk lbkrs out of the front 7 then the opponent runs the ball with an option for the QB to keep it. It is 5 Off linemen vs 5 tacklers with an option.

hard to stop. It is basically what NDSU did on their big QB draw on their last drive and many times in that game.

There is nothing terribly wrong with a decent offense getting 20 points.

The Wisc team that beat LSU and MSU had 7 takeaways in those 2 games. Resulting in 28+ points. That's salty...and how they won those games.
