Iowa-Iowa State memories

I'm 37. I remember as a kid just always counting this game as a win, often easily. The losses in '98-'00 were expected. At no other time did I think Iowa had an inferior team to Iowa State. I'm uneasy about this week. Defense looked very shaky. Iowa State has looked awful and beat Iowa in the past. Hoping for Iowa to run Iowa State out of Kinnick embarrassed and beaten.

I remember Iowa pi $$ pounding those losers repeatedly when Fry was coach, and I also remember my dad drinking way more than he should the week of the game.....God, those were good times......;).....in a drunken stuper, my dad would say, "I'm glad you didn't go to ISU"

Two clear memories

1977, I was a Senior in High School and my best friend was a Frosh @ IOWA, and a manager on the football team. This was the first year the rivalry resumed after a 43 year break. He got me tickets in the front row (as in, feet on the astro turf) of the North end zone. Iowa beat ISU and I watched the students tear the goalposts down...they fell practically at my feet. I looked up at the pandemonium in the stands... and decided...THIS is where I'm going to college. My love affair with IOWA was cemented.

Fast forward to 1981. IOWA plays at ISU after 4 games in Kinnick. I'm a drummer in the HMB. There were "F-Iowa" signs all along the road to the stadium, we had stuff thrown at us by the "fans"..in the stands... mind you, and more D-bag stuff we've come to expect from the sheep-breeders in Ames. In 4 years with the HMB I never experienced anything like it...and as a fan I hadn't seen anything close until @ Arizona 2010. That cemented my disgust and hatred for ISU.

I understand the simplistic "the two schools are not that different" response some offer. But it's misguided. "Little Brother" is the wrong term, they're not from our DNA

...drops mic....

Bad memory but in 2002 I was in college and we left at halftime to go drink at a house party because the game was already over. About an hour later someone yelled to us that Iowa State had the lead and we assumed he was messing with us

My high school friends and i have been going to this game every year for the past 8 years. It's a great chance to get together as a group once a year since we all live outside of iowa now.

They just lost to an FCS school, how much more embarrassing can it get? And there in lies the problem, they have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. Execute and the score will take care of itself

I have a friend that got their veterinarian degree from clown u and the funny thing is I've NEVER EVER seen one article of clown u clotheing or decals or ANYTHING! He's from sconsin and he wears the W instead! Lol

I remember as a kid counting Westside dominating Prep a lock, but that all changed with that infamous field goal kick, but I digress.

I think Kirk is going to throw the monkey off his back that is ISU and give it the proper curb stomp it deserves. Iowa runs all over the clones and remind them that it's the Hawkeye State!

My favorite memory vs isu is when Marshall Yanda absolutely destroyed some little clown freshman with a block.

That damn field goal!

I remember a big smile on my face last Saturday watching a 25-20 loss by ISU to UNI...Remember it like it was just last Saturday under the lights.
