Iowa Football: What are you looking forward to?

Other than a whole new staff in 2016, Special K took the words right out of my mouth on the second post of this thread.

I enjoy the changes in personnel every year that you get in college football. Seniors graduate and move on so new faces take their places. As much as I liked Weisman I'll be glad to see a change at RB. Obviously hoping Sunshine can do what we think he can do. That kind of thing.
I think it would be even more enjoyable if the same teams didn't stay on top year after year.

With the basketball season complete I guess the eyes of Hawkeyenation turn to Iowa Football. What are we looking forward to? I suppose I'm looking forward to seeing CJB's development at QB now that he's the only option we have. The pictures of our new football practice facility are nice and I'm looking forward to seeing more. We'll probably get to see Scherff walk across the stage at the NFL Draft. That's a good thing. But that's all I can think of which makes me wonder. How difficult is it right now for our coaches to recruit?? Based on the results of the 2015 recruiting class it must be very difficult!! I've been a diehard Iowa fan for more than 30 years and I can only think of one thing I'm looking forward to that directly affects next year's team. What say you??

As always, I just look forward to college football season. Grilled brats, some 'kraut, a little beer...okay, a lot of beer :)

It's not AS fun if the Hawks aren't good, but college football season NEVER sucks.

The number one thing I am looking forward to is CJB.

I want to see him play with his hair on fire. Throwing some picks but making a number of big plays. I accept there will be some bad with the good.

What I am worried about most is if KF gets to him. If he comes out talking about making good decisions, the smart play, checking it down, yada, yada, yada then we are in for more of the same drivel this program has become. Give me the type of excitement a gun slinger can bring to this program.

He asked for it with The Interview. So if he lets KF "get to him", it's nobody's fault but his.

You proved my point; yet failed to answer the question.

What changes has he made? Nothing significant. Sunshine is going to be QB1 and it is not because Kirk changed his mind and wanted to run the team with CJ at the helm. The only changes he made was shifting around the coaching staff that has already been there and call them different names. Kirk is stuck in the 90s and isn't going to adjust his ways. He will either be fired or retiring after his joke of a contract and the hawks will continue to be average and boring to watch until that time comes.

I'm excited to see how CJB carries this team, from the limited interviews I've seen of him, he has a winning mentality like Stanzi and unlike JR.

Im also looking forward to seeing the growth in our linebacking core with Bower and Josey leading it.

Gee, a switch at QB could be considered a pretty significant change (especially when you have a 2yr starter returning). Whether or not you want to say it wasn't kirfer's preference or desire to do that is up for debate; but unless you have him saying his hand was forced the debate will be a lot of projection, leaps, and speculation (see the Miller and Deace podcast as example).
I'd also say there were PLENTY of exciting games last year. Oh hi NW, Indiana, Wiscy, Pitt, Maryland, or Purdue. The majority of the Nebby game was fun, as was the last 6 minutes of BallSt.
The season didn't produce as many wins as one wanted, but there was still a lot of excitement to come from it. If you can't get up for Hawkeye football, then I hope you have a big yard bro.

Changes made were not because a lightbulb finally came on in KF's mind. His hand was forced....If Kirk wanted to change QB's he would have done it much sooner.

Absolutely agree with this! JR is who Ferentz really wants to be Iowa's QB, but because of outside influences and the fact Ferentz has a balance of 0 in the "Iowa Fanbase Goodwill Account" he switched QBs.

Why do you suggest that KirFer would've changed QB's in the middle of the season? Does he have a track record of doing that in the past?

One could make an arguement that if KirFer's hand was forced and he was feeling pressure, then he would've made a change at a coordinator position.

I also wonder why you don't think KirFer would make adjustments (in personnel, scheme, coaches, approach, etc)? Do you seriously think he doesn't want to win?
