Iowa Football Preview, Prediction: Hawkeyes Host PSU Under Lights

Anyway

24-10. Iowa

Either Iowa wins by double digits or they lose by double digits. Not expecting a close game here. Iowa’s opening drive will tell me everything I need to know.

I am kind of hoping that the Michigan game was the low point for Iowa's offensive line play. Michigan's defensive alignment is kind of a hybrid 4-3 or 3-4 depending on who they are playing. 3-4 defenses with a lot of blitzing has given Iowa problems before. I am hoping Penn State's 4-3 defense is something Iowa's blockers are a bit more familiar with.

Still, I think Iowa is somewhat over matched, Penn State 20 Iowa 13.

If we see them it’s time to chant “You Are Pedo State” last they forget.

Hopefully PSU will be a Kirk and Brian Resurrection Game! Iowa needs a couple of picks.

I think the Michigan game just shows where we stack up. We beat up on lousy teams, all the homers predict domination all season, then when we play someone decent we find out we are average. We couldn't run against an average ISU, and didn't exactly throttle Miami of Ohio or Rutgers until they wore down in the second half. So we beat up on a horrible MTSU team that put 21 points on Michigan. Now, we have one running back that belongs in our back field, and that is Goodson. The others are now B1G level backs. There have been some creases that they should have taken advantage of for big runs, but are just so slow they can't get through the hole in time to break free. As far as pass protection, well we have an absolute statue at qb that takes forever to make a decision so that doesn't help the line out either. Combine that with an OC that has no clue what he is doing, and no business having the job, and you get what you see on the field for an offense. PSU defense is much much better than Michigan, and they don't even need to blitz to bring pressure. Our line is not good, and hasn't been for quite some time. It is a talking point for announcers because what else are they going to talk about?

Good God man, I think we all are hoping that. I don't know how they could look any worse.

So did the narrative on Michigan change? I thought you'd said they were mediocre in another thread and now they're "decent"? I can't keep up.

I agree on your comment regarding first drive...I think it's more 1st Q but I hear ya! I'd be stunned from last week's performance if we score 24 points but I do think our D could post another 10 game for the oppositions offense.

This is the 7-5 contract coaching we get after GB's brilliant contract move....Kirk just make us bowl eligible and I'll see to it you make more money than almost all your peers and you never have to win or participate in a conference championship...just get me 7-5 and I can keep feeding the alumni and supporters bullshit.

When the goal posts are moved then he doesn’t need to defend what he says. He gets to change it when necessary.

Ahh yes. You care more about winning than the football coach. Got it.

Just so we are clear troll here's my priority:
1a. Run your program clean (unlike the basketball blue bloods)
1b. Develop the kids you recruit athletically and academically
3. WIN GD football games. IT'S YOUR JOB

This never gets old. Seriously 7 win bonus. Does Barta realize that a 7-6 record with the way Iowa's schedules are currently constructed = a losing record against P5 opponents?

Not necessarily. If one of the losses is to a program, like oh, I don't know, say Western Michigan or North Dakota State, you can still go 7-6 and play .500 or better ball against the P5.
