Iowa Football Bringing Sexy Back

This. I don't understand WHY it works, I just know it does.

Besides, people always get worked up about the designs, when it's the material that really matters. The designs are just what draws attention.

Exactly, the ProCombat line actually refers to the uniform material and fit, it has nothing to do with what the uniform looks like. I'd like to see us go all black at some point, we've done throwbacks, the USA hawkeye, so it's not like we've never worn alternate uniforms.

It's stupid, but if they "have to do it" because everybody else does ("ME TOO! ME TOO!"), I wouldn't mind if they did it for a road game. Those uniforms look like crap anyway. Don't mess with the home uniforms, though. I'm sure recruits will be less happy about that, though.

I don't think it's a "have to do it" situation. They've been out for what? Five years now? Iowa has resisted it so far. But his comment today about listening and being more receptive to outside voices seems to indicate he's looking at more progressive ideas.

How does it work? I need numbers. Evidence. Anecdotes. What schools have gotten recruits because of their stupid Combat uniforms? Oh right... Alabama, Texas, Ohio State totally rocked it. I'm sure those 5-star kids would have gone to Iowa State or Northwestern if those other schools hadn't bent over for Nike.

Have some free time? Go back through the tweets of Nico Law or Reese Fleming for example and you will see where they tweeted things about new uniforms. Is it going to influence a big name kid to go to a lesser school? Certainly not. Could it sway some kid that is down to two or three comparable schools? Possibly.

You're against outside the box thinking and keeping up with the times? The status quo has gotten us back to back seven win regular seasons. Those that don't change get left in the dust.

Yeah, uniforms with stripes and swooshes are totally going to turn this **** around!

Don't really care one way or the other about the uniforms but sometimes you gotta go along to get along. Recruits obviously want to go to a winning program but they also watch ESPN and see the combat uniforms. I simply like the fact we have an injection of youth on the staff who can help some of the veteran coaches adapt to the social media world and understand how they might have to adjust their recruiting style, etc. You can't stand still while the world around you changes.

If they go with all black unis, please for the love of Jeebus make the numbers gold instead of a slightly different shade of black, because I don't want to have to stand 3 inches from my TV to be able to tell which player is which.

That sounds awful. How about the team just keeps the uniforms as they are and focuses on being a better football team? Every second Kurt has to think about how many stripes and what specific shade of glitter to add is a second he can't spend thinking about actual important things.

Ah I see why you're against the procombat uniforms so much now. You think Kurt would have to design them himself. Nike actually does the design work for the schools, saves the coaches a lot of time and stress.

Right, but he still has to consider, approve, pose for pictures, that kind of thing. It's all crap.

But mostly I hate them because they suck. It's less about Kirk's time. More about the suck. If our uniforms weren't already so awesome -- if we looked like Iowa State or Northwestern -- I'd hate them less.
