Iowa/Florida in Outback Bowl

It might not be a New Years 6, but always remember folks, this would be a YUGE deal if Iowa State ever made a bowl of this caliber. It would be one of the biggest moments in their program's history. It's par for the course for us, but some perspective is always nice

The Outback is a better bowl than the Holiday. Look it up. And yes THIS January 2nd bowl is a legitimate Jan bowl game. Don't be coy. Don't pretend that the Holiday bowl is better than the Outback. Its simply not true. Were you rooting for 2nd place in the big West this year because it's only one place behind 1st?

Back in the 80s the Holiday Bowl was a huge bowl when they had the old WAC champion in it. IIRC they used to get the #2 pick in the Big Ten after the Rose Bowl. But now the Outback is a better bowl, granted not by a big margin.

True statement. Capital One and Outback comparable but not Holiday. Watching a team from the WAC play anyone over say a B1G vrs an SEC team. Who we kidding here.

Actually 2 birds,It was great with the President there.They also had to call the Fire Marshall in because we had to many Hawk fans in the room they estimated around 30,000 strong.We all know what happened at the game,THE CATCH.

In the grand scheme of things, getting good matchups has become more important than bowl hierarchy. The teams don't like bad mismatches. The networks, conferences and fans don't like mismatches either. The post season games are still to a large extent exhibition games. People want to be entertained. I would have been just as satisfied with Iowa playing Arkansas in Music City.

I like it for two reasons, I live 2 hours south of Tampa, and I hate really late kicks. Guessing holiday bowl would have been an evening game on the west coast.
