I don't disagree with how they did it, but it's pretty hard to establish our Run game when the entire defense is playing a few feet off the line of scrimmage. Maybe technically it's not stacking the Box but boy when only 1 guy plays back further than 5 yards off the Los, that is a ton of traffic to try and get a run game going through. Their db's we're more experienced, so they just jammed, turned to start to possibly cover and if it was a run??? By that time the entire D was within 5 of the Los. Tough to run against that. We just couldn't get them to back off the line and respect anything deeper.I think that's a true fair assessment. Iowa's Oline was terrible. Couldn't run or give Stanley time to pass all game long. What'd Iowa have 80 something yards of O? It was beyond pitiful. It all snowballed as the game went on but that was as one sided of a game as I've seen in that way for awhile... It'll be different this year in Kinnick especially.
WE HAD ONE, ONE PASSiNG COMPLETION THAT WAS 10 YARDS!! That was the longest.
That's brutal. I don't care who you have as a rb, playing 10 guys 5 yards or less off the Los, is basically a......... Goal line stance type of defensive play.
Except they were doing it all day long.
Our TE's had 1 catch. 1. Hockerson.
Jeez do a roll out, anything to slip someone past them and basically it was 1 on one after that. Get Fant 1 on 1 and let him go up and get it. Use that athletic ability of our ol.
I get we want to predicate the pass off the run, but they turned that around on us and we needed to respond by playing the run off the pass. Get them off the Los.
