Iowa Basketball starting to look like a basketball team

When I read the thread title I was going to agree and say that every position outside of the 5 looks like a legit Big ten player. The 5 will be a weakness this season, and if you are 7ft and can't hoop, well the height doesn't matter much at all. Getting Woodbury is very, very important right now.
While I agree Woodbury is important, Kyle Meyer is coming too. He's got some height.

at some point in time Fran has to stop throwing offers out there to guards, otherwise ther won't be one for Woodbury, maybe i look at stars as well but when you have guys like Lee and Macon looking to schedule visits and are interested i don't see the need, hate to see them get told sorry we are full
There will always be an offer for Woodbury.

Isn't Meyer a 4 though? I know there is not a big difference there but it would be nice to have a skilled 7 footer.
That is something that almost all agree, Jay. The fact that Adam hasn't pulled the trigger yet, might be in Iowa's favor. If he really wanted to take UNC's offer, he probably would have done so by now, maybe not, but I like our chances.

It depends on what site you look at. Meyer is listed as a 5 on rivals, but listed as a 4 on Scout. Meyer appears to have grown some over the last year and is a solid 6-10 and maybe not done growing yet.
I agree with your assessment of Olaseni, it is not a bad thing to have a project at the 5 position with his athleticism. However, I do think he will have a bigger role on this team than some think. There aren't too many legit 5's outside of Sullinger in the BIG and Olaseni may have a shot to develop in front of our eyes by playing. Expect very, very little from Gabe offensively, but if he can contribute on the defensive end with shot blocking and rebounding he will find himself on the floor.

Actually, reviewing Scout/Rivals/ESPN, they all have him listed as a Center now, to date.

Olaseni is not as big of a project that people think, to many people are looking at the lack of stars, but most fail to realize the kid is from Europe and never really got evaluated by the services, go check up the little bit that ESPN said about him, its not bad and is a rebounder and shot blocker with range to 12 feet, and with Fran he doesn't want a center out on the perimeter shooting 20' from the basket, nor do i because it takes him out of rebounding position
