Hawkeyes just sent out a statement regarding some issues that happened against members of the band at the Game. They are asking ISU officials for information.

Statement from Gary Barta, Henry B. and Patricia B. Tippee Director of Athletics Chair:
“University of Iowa Athletics has been made aware of inappropriate actions made toward student members and staff of the Hawkeye Marching Band while attending the Iowa State football game Sept. 14. We have contacted Iowa State Athletics administration and are working to gather additional information.
“Our main priority is the safety of all Iowa students, staff, and coaches when attending events away from Iowa City.”

The band should of turned around and played the Iowa Fight Song very loudly! Stupid clowns! Hope nobody was hurt in the band.

I did a lot of road trips with the band way back when and have done a lot of away games as a fan. It's no fallacy, there's a special douche-baggery that rears its head in Ames on a regular basis. Fact.
You can find one-off examples most anywhere of course...but it's consistently there in ames. Only the road trip to Arizona in 2010 surpasses it.

Had anyone in the marching band responded that night to what was happening we'd be hearing from Ames about how the Iowa Marching Band was being aggressive to sweet god fearing ISU fans.

Do you think Pollard will give two shits about this? He seems like the kind of guy who will carry this loss and grudge around for the next 365 days. Knowing his personality, he probably is glad those ISU students did what they did.

I think "townies" were a big part of the problem. Some of the guys I saw harassing people were definitely not students.

A friend in band said that fans seated around the band were yelling obscene things at them during the game, throwing things. Got so bad the University of Iowa police officer seated with the band had to have numerous people excorted out/arrested.

A group of frat dudes tried to get busy with solo me and my lady. Tough guys and just shitty all the way around.

Good god.....someone got their poor little feelings hurt.....how will they ever survive in the real world? And then they wonder why everyone makes fun of them when they say they are a band member. Grow up already you freaking snowflakes! You are at a football game, not a church service.....

On another site, some say racial slurs were used and fulls cans of beer were being thrown by isu fans at the Iowa band. I've also read that the band members were attacked getting on the team bus by isu fans, so there is a lot floating around right now.
