Iowa and The Portal.

Allegedly, there has been some conversations.....allegedly.
West Florida athletic teams are the Argonauts. The university is a member of the Division II level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), primarily competing in the Gulf South Conference (GSC) since the 1994–95 academic year.

The University of West Florida (West Florida or UWF) is a public university in Pensacola, Florida, United States. Established in 1963 as a member institution of the State University System of Florida

Also, as @HawkPowerlifter pointed out, this kid was a highly recruited QB (4*, ranked #11 QB by ESPN) who ended up at DII because of a stupid social media post. He is 6'2, 215 lbs. He has been at West Florida for 3 seasons, and 247Sports has him as their 5th best transfer portal QB: https://247sports.com/season/2026-football/transferportalpositionranking/?positiongroupkey=1

According to reports, Iowa has reached out. I wonder if they know they are losing someone from their QB room?
More curious is we seem to be recruiting to compliment what has worked for us. With Lester's offense in full swing and Gronk having a fair amount success, it appears we are actually trying to recruit quarterbacks that will work in the system.

Hoping the kid has learned something from his past. Never know.....Iowa isn't the only school chatting with him. So, it may be for naught.

I knew a lot of white kids in high school who liked to sing rap lyrics...but we didn't have social media back then.

If I am listening to rap, even when I am all by myself, I never say ALL the words. That has just been ingrained too deeply. Even singing along inside my head, I skip those words.

Count me as one who sees the LOS as the highest priority in the portal.

In terms of the offensive line, there always seems to be one or two that make strides during the off-season and step up, but, even if that occurs, our depth would be highly questionable.

The bigger need is the defensive line. The cupboard is close to bare starting next season, especially at tackle. If we can pony up some bucks for two quality defensive and two quality offensive linemen, that would be the way to go, IMO. BUT, to justify it, the coaches need to target impact guys. Bringing in potential weak links at those spots doesn't move the needle.

We won't have a lot of experience at LB, but several of the younger guys have big time ceilings. I would let the cream rise to the top there.

Hard to see RB as a priority, but one I would keep an eye on is Wisconsin's Dilin Jones. He may get lost in the mix with Dupree and their young phenom, Ituka. If Jones decides it's not worth it, I would jump on him in a heartbeat. His HS tape is eye-popping.
