Iowa AD doesn't discount possibility of Hawkeye-Cyclone clash ending

Hawks can draw plenty of fans without that game. Let the Clones schedule another compelling Mid-Major team, so they can execute their strategy of going 3-0 in the non-conference, 3-6 in the Big 12, and getting an invite to a lower tier bowl. It's worked well so far for them, and their fans don't seem to mind that formula.
another mid-major? Are you saying hawk football is mid-major?

Not all tickets are paid for, players get like 2 tickets per game for family and friends, plus coaches get the same. Plus how many are donated by the school for whatever reason. Just wondering, plus kids under a certain age play way less than $50.00 for a seat.
Kids under any age pay the same as a 500 pound elderly man....including infants in Arms...where are you getting your information? I have been taking my kids to games for 13 years..there isn't a kid price pal.

I believe you are underestimating the TV revenue lost, the local economy impact, the parking money, the concessions..I am thinking the 3.5 million is in tickets ALONE...at another million or two on food sales and parking. Have no idea how much TV revenue is generated for home game.

There is one game a year with a $25 "kids" ticket. Other than that, there is no such thing as a discount ticket in Kinnick stadium outside of students and faculty.

2013 season ticket prices

General public $388 for 7 games = $55.43 per game.
UofI staff $318 for 7 games = $45.43 per game.
UofI students $175 for 7 games = $25.00 per game. (11 sections reserved for student section)

Individual game prices

$55 for game against Missouri State
$60 for game against Western Michigan
$65 for games against Northern Illinois, Michigan State, Northwestern
$70 for Wisconsin and Michigan
$25 for boys and girls high school aged and younger for Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Missouri State

I know what all of you're saying, the athletic department makes lots of money off seats per game, in the millions obviously. I was merely asking a question if anyone knew the actual number not estimating by taking the number of seats by the ticket price. Also my point is not every single seat in the whole house is paid for at $55.00 or more. Many, many seats are giving away for free or discounted prices for various reasons. I have had many friends who have taken small children to games 3-4 years old or younger and had them sit on their lap as the athletic office told that this ok and the ticket scanners never asked for a ticket for the child either. I know these are smaller than the majority probably less than 5% but it still happens.

Besides the student section you have the band and family and friends of players. I was told at one time that players were allotted 2 tickets per game for free. I don't know if that is still true or not and if that is on the activate roster only, no redshirts or not who knows. But that is at least a hundred tickets and the band another hundred or so at no cost.

You are correct, and they are not going to be losing a home game every other year. I don't think you realize how much one home game is worth. The ticket sales for one game alone is over 4,000,000 dollars. Now include parking and concessions. Iowa will be playing 7 home games unless there is a neutral site game. That is going to happen every year. Six home and six away every other year is not worth debating because it is not happening.

This. It has nothing to do with the quality of the team we are playing and everything to do with making sure we have 7 home games.

If ISU agreed to play every year in Kinnick (which obviously they wouldn't) ISU would still be on the schedule.

It has nothing to do with ISU and everything to do with $$$$.

I was all set to make a snarky comment about how players and coaches also get in free, but your point on the band is fair, since they take up a portion of stated capacity (about 250 seats, not 100). As does the opposing band, when there is one.
