Intermat Rankings 2/12

The B1G is so good at 174. I think this is the first week that I agree with the rankings at 74. It would have been wrong for McD to NOT stay at #1.

It's funny how much they moved up Lawson and Conaway in order to still give PSU the lead in team points.

I'm actually fine with where they've got Conaway. Since the calendar turned, his only losses are to #1 Stieber and #2 Ramos. He owns victories over #4 Graff and #10 Thomas. He had a rough 1st semester (2 losses to unranked wrestlers), but he's done much better in 2013.

Yeah 174 is crazy. the 8th seed at the big ten tournament (Yates) is ranked 10th in the nation. that's insane.

also these would be ideal seeds for McD. i hope megaludis and delgado are on the opposite side of the bracket so he'll have to beat just one of them.

Keep in mind McDonough and Delgado could face off again in National Duals next weekend. That's going to have an impact on the Big 10 seeding. Hopefully McD can hold onto the #1 seed.

As far as NCAA seeding, I'm not sure where they're going to put Waters. Undefeated on the season, he's only had 4 matches to top 20 wrestlers (W over #16 Eppert, W over #13 Triggas, 2 wins over #6 Garrett). He's got a lot riding on the National Duals these next 2 weekends. Missouri shouldn't have a problem advancing to next weekend (they have Wyoming, Maryland and Purdue in their bracket on Sunday) where he could potentially face #1 McDonough, #3 Delgado, #5 Garnett, #13 Triggas, #14 Thorn depending on how the seeding shakes out. If Waters were to end up undefeated going into NCAAs (without facing McD, Delgado or Garnett and winning the MACs, I'm not sure how they seed him. He doesn't has the resume of any of the Big 10's top 3, but if he has an undefeated record, the committee may bump him over one (or 2) of the them.

No kidding. Lawson got majored by UR Nick Gwiazdowski of NC St., and lost to #17 Jeremy Johnson of Ohio. His only "good" win is #16 Levi Cooper, ASU who he pinned. Seems like a fringe AA candidate to me too. Conaway, you can make a stronger case for. Surprised McD is still #1.
