Instant Stupidity

And while I agree with you, he wasn't much better than ok.....less than 50% completion percentage, the TD pass at the end was a great pass....he stared at him the whole way, something that Jake gets knocked for all the time. I'm not going to use the "lesser of two evils" analogy because it doesn't really fit. It's more of a situation where Iowa was dating a girl who's a 4, only to break up with her to date a 5....an improvement yes....worth pumping your fist about, not really.

The stats don't tell the whole story. The team just plays better (more energy??) with CJB. Also, he makes throws that Rudock can't. Is he an all-American? Obviously not, but as Jon, HawkeyeGameFilm, Ed Podolak, and many others have said, CJ has the better upside. My fear is he transfers to a FCS school and throws for 6000 yards and 60 TDs the next two years and goes on to play in the NFL.

They've been better offensively with CJ. If you don't see that, you don't have the slightest idea about football.

Which is akin to saying Khloe Kardashian is less of a fame wh*re than Kim.

Face it, CJ sucks equally as much as JR or ANY QB will/would under the current OC. And the offense wasn't "better" under CJ until Tennessee had their second/third team in the game. Against their first team, CJ was awful. Fumble, INT, missed throws, etc.

Not saying JR was better, or even approaching "good". They were both terrible. And this stupid fan base and incompetent media--JDM included--are still making the whole thing a QB issue.

Jon has spent 90% of his podcast time b1tching about CJB not playing. I wonder what his podcast will blame now?

Jon didn't even mention the QB play until the 9:42 mark of a 27-minute podcast. The overwhelming majority of those first 10 minutes were spent roasting the defense's poor performance.

Rudock is not going to advance this program any further than he already has, and he's not advanced it far enough. If you don't like that everyone but you and KF can see that, get over it.

So a guy who's got next to no game experience looked slightly better than the guy who's a 2-year starter.

You're right, we shouldn't still be having this debate.

Frankly, CJ didn't look any better. I was sold--by the majority of this board--a bill of goods about "the best backup QB in the B1G", "the most unique skill set in the Kirk Ferentz Era" and a host of other crap.

What I saw was a QB who missed throws, fumbled a snap near the red zone, threw an INT in the endzone, took a stupid sack, etc. In other words, same thing, just a different QB.

The pathetic thing is most of you losers can't admit it's a scheme or OC problem except in an offhand way.

You have ZERO idea "how far" JR could take this program. There is no way of knowing when the play calls, schemes, etc., are always flipped opposite where they should be.

The NEW APologist is the guy/girl that wants to coddle a back-up QB who, with dear old dad, made veiled threats to transfer. Of course, Jon "The Traveling Sycophant" Miller created the "Beathard didn't break circle of trust!" thread as if there was something "noble" that took place.

I hope JR graduates in May then transfers. I hope CJ transfers, as well. I don't care what Kirk does, as long as it benefits him.

I'm still a Hawkeye fan. I am no longer proud of it. It's sort of like hating to admit you still watch "Grey's Anatomy" or watch reruns of "Law & Order". Or more accurately, feeling like you're the only person at the Three Stooges Festival who actually knows that Shemp sucks.

A guy who has much stronger physical gifts and lacks the experience of a 2-year starter performed at least as well as the guy with all the experience. Beathard can much more readily improve his play by getting more experience/reps with the first team. Rudock isn't suddenly going to grow a third, stronger arm or become a better runner.

Beathard is the guy they need to go with. If he can give us the same (or slightly better) results as he is right now, which he can and has done, he needs to be the guy going forward.

Why are long term members conversing with Bob as if he is rational?

Probably because I have a clue, have been around this forum for a while, have been a fan since before you were still crapping your pants--or maybe you are STILL doing that--and I can create rational posts.

In other words, "potential" rules the day.

I'm not "defending" Jake. But this b.s. about CJ being so wonderful is laughable. If he is THAT awesome, why did our offense basically suck yesterday? Or, are you going with the "It's about more than the offense/QB/etc."? Or are you going with the ultimate bail-out, KF?

Face facts: QB was/is the least of our problems. CJB made ZERO difference in the game. He altered/affected the outcome not one iota. Zero.

What we DO know is that he is capable of making veiled threats, along with dad. I wonder if dad and Jeff Christensen are Facebook friends?

I will say it appears as though Bob has lost his KF apologist attitude so he has that going for him.
As for the QB situation, there is clearly major flaws with the system no doubt. But the staff needs to play the guy who can make more out of the flawed system.

I'm going to step right up and say you don't have a clue. I've been around here for awhile as well and you are by far one of the most incorrect posters on this forum. If you want we can create a separate thread where I will dismantle your take that QB didn't make a difference this season, and the talent gap between CJ and Jake.

I also remember you being quite the KF apologist for years and you were dead wrong on him, when others were proven correct.

Just let me know and I'll knock you off your high horse like I did so often in the past. I remember the last time we tangled you left the board with your tail between your legs for awhile.

You don't have the slightest damn clue what you are talking about guy.

Before you type stuff like this you might want to actually know what happened behind the scenes. I'll give you a little history lesson so you don't show your zzz the next time you feel the need to take a shot at someone.

After the bowl game last season CJ was looking to leave. Ferentz promised both he and his father that if he stayed that he would have a fair shot to win the starting job in 2014, and would still get some playing time even if he didn't start. That was enough to keep CJ another year and that promise was clearly broken as CJ only got 1 start the all season, and Ferentz told the media it was because Jake was hurt. Now fast forward to October. CJ is again not happy with not being allowed to start outside that one game (which he didn't play poorly in I might add...there were a lot of dropped passes), and again he is starting to hint around he is leaving. Then Ferentz/Davis announced that QB "rotation" which never happened and that pretty much sealed CJ's fate at Iowa.

So while you think CJ's dad is a "problem Dad" like Jake Christensen's was, you couldn't be more wrong. Then again, I can't remember the last time you were right so it's par for the course.

Lesson over bob.

Shemp sucks? Sacrilege you bastard!

The qb position the least of our problems? Let me clue you in. This isn't the 50's. Great teams are great teams because they have a great qb. No one here thinks cj is a potential heisman candidate. What he CAN do is keep defenses from putting ten guys in the box. Jake isn't horrible. He's nowhere near as bad as Christianson. But we didn't have a top ten defense and we HAD to score. His lack of playmaking ability crippled our chances. And before you throw out games like northwestern and Indiana at me, keep in mind neither played in a bowl and every team we played with a winning record we lost to. The best team we beat? Pittsburgh. Hello? Anyone in there mcfly?

I don't see the defense improving next year. Will Jake suddenly look downfield?

Qb is and will be the most important position on any team going forward. The rules of football favor the offense. A great qb will beat any great defense or at least get you to the table. We belong in the Mac with Jake.

We didn't beat a single FBS team that finished the year with even a .500 record. Pitt lost their bowl game to go 6-7. If you played Iowa this year and finished the bowl season at 7-6, you beat Iowa.

Uh, when they're producing equal results (as you say they are), yeah. Do I stick with the guy who is what he is, or do I go with the guy who gives me at least that much and has a much greater chance of improving beyond that? That's a no-brainer.

Bob, go take a nap. A long one. Wake up and come back here in a few months -- scratch that, years -- when you have a clue.
