I just have two comments related to the string of posts on here:

1. I don't want a coaching staff that just "works hard", I want one that "works smart" and while I have no doubt that this staff puts in more hours than I'll ever know, it's painfully obvious that they don't work smart.

2. In relation to Kirk doing what he believes in… Pride cometh before the fall.

He did change...last year. Then he changed back this year. New Kirk (there was a New Kirk the first half of last year) would not have lost to NDSU and Northwestern. The season doesn't spiral out of control with those two losses. We would probably be playing Nebraska with a chance to go 10-2 or 9-3 if Kirk from the first half of last year was coaching.

I think the new Kirk thing was overblown. Not saying he wasn't willing to take more chances, but I think he's still doing a lot of the same things this year with less success. I think it's that they're more predictable this year.

Case in point was getting stuffed on the fourth and short with a QB sneak we've run continually.

The predictability is my biggest gripe. And I will admit that's been an issue in the past. We hear they've worked during the bye on the vertical passing game and we don't see any of it last night. That's frustrating.

OK. I understand the frustration. I'm fine with you guys being upset with me (I'll let Jon speak for himself). I'm speaking and writing what I feel and see. And, believe me, no matter what I or anybody else in the media says or writes will not affect what's being done within the football program. What matters is money. If tickets continue to sell, all will be forgiven. Heck, we just announced a major stadium renovation.

Dear Iowa fans: this is the absolute truth. "If tickets continue to sell". If you NEED that vacation to the No One Cares Bowl in mid-December, you forfeit any opportunity to demand coaching changes because you're voting for it with your dollars.

If you really want to send a message, sell your tickets to Michigan and Nebraska fans. Maize, blue, and red shirts in Kinnick are as visible of a vote of no-confidence that there can be.

I guess we will agree to disagree because if I hate losing I'm going to have my team prepared every single week -- and I'm going to match their strengths to my opponents weaknesses to give me the best chance to win. He clearly hasn't done that on multiple occasions this year. Just because someone hates to lose doesn't mean they are out there actively doing what's necessary to win.

The problem with KF is, like you said, he's going to do the same old tired crap each week until it clicks. Well, it ain't clicking and why he can't (but everybody else can) see it is the whole problem.

I would almost guarantee that you could put 10 guys from this message board plus Hawkeye game film on the sideline and pay them 300k each and we wouldn't see this level of incompetence and uninspired football. Getting 5 wins out of this schedule is a joke.

I'm uncertain if ten guys from this forum can even relay a coherent thought, let alone properly coach a team.

That's always been the problem, except with road-graders on the O-line it worked, at least they aren't using Indiana and Ohio for audibles anymore.

The extent of New Kirk wa's overblown. But there was one and he was a better coach than Old Kirk.

New Kirk was real enough to get 12 wins in a season that included a tougher OOC.

Possibility of getting fired = motivation to win

Possibility removed = lack of motivation (a.k.a. fear)
