Infield Fly was the right call.

I am a Cardinals fan and I thought it was very questionable when it was made, was it a call that could be made per the rule book sure it could have, but not sure that is the call to be making at that point. And if he doesn't make any sound to call it I think Kozma still catches the ball...

Very reasonable, and what 99.9% of baseball fans think, including me.....It is the two trolls (11en1 and Dwayne) that seem to disagree...

If it fits the definition of the infield fly, why is it not the call to be making? That's nonsense. That's like saying that a pitch was a strike, but shouldn't have been called one.

What you are saying about a strike zone makes no sense. The fact is the strike zone does move with every single batter. What is a strike for Randy Johnson's might not be a strike for Mike Trout. So strike zones move, and they are totally judgement calls left up to each ump to define their own strike zones. Heck theoretically according to you, it should be an infield fly even if Holliday makes the play, and the SS is called off much earlier. How many infield fly rules are called when the OF makes the catch? According to you, this should be commonplace.

It is a judgement call, and the fact is if that play happened 10 times, I bet it is called infield fly 1 or 2 times. It is written in the rule book as the umps judgement, and in this case he made a poor judgement.

I don't believe they can make up their own strike zones. They are told what the zone should be and are critiqued after every game based on their calls and that strike zone. It only changes when a taller/shorter guy comes to the plate.

If John Kruk was playing shortstop it wouldn't have been an ordinary effort. With Koz, it was.

Just watched this play for the very first time. That's how much I don't care about these two teams.

It was the correct call, and it's not even that close.
