In other baseball news: Astros to AL?

year-long interleague and balanced schedules sound great to me

get rid of the DH ... dumb rule

again we see why baseball has sooo many problems. so hung up on tradition that they can't make even small moves or moves that make sense. that's the beauty of the NFL, smart, progressive, willing to make changes when things aren't working. instant replay is just one example of the huge difference in how both leagues are run.

I think the Divsional Series should be a 7 game series. Hope they make that change when they add the additional Wild Card. My understanding is the Wild Card will be a 1 game deal, I think that's dumb but whatever. As long as the DS goes to 7 games, I don't care much what the Wild Card round is.

I have long been an advocate of balancing the Leagues and playing Interleague all year round. As a Cubs fan I'm particularly happy to have only 5 teams in the Central.
Yeah because 5th place sounds better than 6th place! hahaha

I like inter-league play to a point. I like the home and home with the "rivals" but beyond that it gets excessive. Although I do think it's cool when the Cubs play the Red Sox or Yankees, but I find it lame playing the Blue Jays or Seattle
I agree with this....Is there a way to designate a "rival" pairing of a NL team and an AL team and those two teams play a home and home and that be it for the interleague? I like Cardinals vs. Royals but I don't need to see Cardinals vs. Baltimore. Get me?

There is not going to be any expansion for a while so Houston to the AL makes perfect sense. The other option is for baseball to downsize and get rid of 2 teams. I find it amazing how bad attendance has been in Miami yet they are still building a new stadium. Both Tampa Bay and Florida could fold and I doubt few people in Florida would notice, another candidate would be Washington. I would even be in favor of going back to 2 divisions in each league, but that will never happen.

The DH rule I could go either way with. Having the Pitcher hit does come with a lot of strategy but outside of Zambrano I never look forward to seeing the Pitcher hit. But I do like the effort to either get rid of it in both leagues or adopt it in both leagues.

Just what we need...a longer season for a sport that already lasts the entire year.

Yeah because adding probably 2 more games and possibly 6 games (2 best of 3 series for the wildcards) and not 2 more best of 5 series is really going to stretch it out even more.

I'd love for the Royals to get in the NL somehow. They are surrounded by great NL teams to root for.

That said I like the DH, but I'm NL fan. I want to watch guys bat that are good batters. Most pitchers are just a hole in the lineup.

And, in case you missed it in another thread I posted, here is the "home run celebration" fountain/eye sore they are putting into that new stadium:

But back to topic, if that's even possible with that distraction above where I'm typing...Pitchers earn millions, I say let them work on all facets of the game, even hitting. DH's earn millions to take what, 4 ABs per game and rarely field?
