I'm sorry, but 9-17 for 80 and a pick...

There was no reason to risk passing with that wind yesterday with a ball either getting hug up against the wind or sailing with the wind. Iowa knows they don't have a lethal passing attack, hence, whey they still ran the ball with the wind in the 2nd half. No reason to give Illannoy a chance of an interception and a score to stay in the game.

But, how can a team have such an inept passing game? Weird!

And they're not good. 5-6 (4-4) in the B1G West is not good.

The reality is that Iowa has played 3 very good teams this year. Wisconsin, Penn St and Michigan. The rest of the games they've played, there is no excuse losing to teams like that. And Iowa has lost 2 of them.

Agreed all around. I guess I've just watched enough of NW to think they are much better than their record (much like Indiana). But your right. NDSU and NW were awful loses and completely changed the season for the worse. No reason Iowa shouldn't have won both(or at least 1 of them), which would have put them right at where I think they should be, maybe even 1 game better. But alas ...

Well, did anybody think CJ was a great passer last year? I wouldn't think so.

Last year, 2nd -team-all-b1g CJ was due to:
1) playmaker - key plays running or passing, at critical times - especially early in the year, and in the 4th qtr
(gap)
2) running / scrambling - lots of positives
(gap)
3) some great throws, lots of good throws, but lots of not-so-good as well. Overshadowed by 1) & 2)

So this year, with the playmaking coached out of him ("Be safe! Don't take chances!") and limited running, all we have is CJ the passer. And CJ the pure passer wouldn't be all-b1g WITH all the other offensive pieces in place. Without a competent OC, receivers, and blockers you get 9-17, 80, 1 pick in game 11.
