I'm not one to call out players....

...and Baer is still one of my favorite players on this team.

But good God, what the hell was that?! One meaningless 3 pointer at the end of the game, ZERO rebounds, and countless times in terrible position on defense. Easily his worst game as a Hawkeye in the most important game of the season.

Ugh!

Bohannon, Pemsl and maybe Moss. Seems like they the only guys who made a difference tonight. indiana took the other guys off their games with superior talent, athleticism and drive tonight.

He played like crap but I didn't see him quit.

I didn't see him quit either....just a difference between playing hard and playing smart. I thought after he bricked his first two 3s that he got tentative...and his game is the opposite of tentative...hopefully a good lesson going into next year...

maybe the IU player that covered him was too much for Baer?

The thing about Baers game is he can impact things in so many ways that he always seems to be in the mix. Tonight he just didn't have an impact at all. No deflections, steals, blocks, rebounds or points.

Bad time for him to have an off night but as others have said, it doesn't happen often.

I didn't think Baer would have a great game. He is a guy that gets to revved up emotionally. If you noticed during the season when he would get fouled for a three point play, he almost always missed the free throw. I think he is a great player, and the more experience he gets the calmer he will be and become more consistent. I thought he was calming down toward the end of the season and had a string of great games. This was his first post season game.

The moment was too big - it shouldn't be as shocking as it seems to be to this many posters on Hawkeye Nation but I assume it must just be because they have no clue about the sport. Young team, just reeled off 4 straight, got tons of accolades heaped onto them leading into it and faced on of the top offenses in the league. They were due for a cold shooting game.

We wouldn't have even been in position to make the dance without Baer the last few weeks. Bad games happen and I'm glad we have him for two more years.

I agree with some of this, but agree to disagree. They weren't "due" for a cold shooting game and even if they were you respond to that by playing harder on the defensive end. I agree that the pressure was huge, but it was equally huge for Indiana. I don't think the fact that they were one of the top offenses in the league had as much to do with it, because we were one of the top 5 offenses as well.

They came out ready to go and after the first few minutes their mind set changed and they decided they were going to play harder then we did on the defensive end of the court. Just my opinion.

Iowa was due for a cold shooting game after what they had recently reeled off - Iowa has only won 5 games a row in a season in conference play twice in the last 20 years (both by Fran lead teams) so we can agree to disagree. It's just not a common thing, winning 5 in a row. I had more issue with the defense we played but a team like Indiana can do that sort of thing to most any team in the country, especially one as young as Iowa.

That was Baers worst game I'd say. But no way am I going to beat him up over it. It's never a lack of effort or preparation with him. Jok it seems like is disinterested in playing defense or even hustling at times. Which irks fans coaches and I'm sure teammates especially. If they don't improve their effort on defense next year it just won't matter what kind of chemistry they have. Rebounding and defense has to improve big time

I do agree with that and winning 5 in a row is very difficult. But as you said even with a cold shooting game you continue the win streak with good/great defense to get you through those shooting slumps. We failed to show up defensively where Indiana used defense to get their offense going.
