I'm looking forward to next year's team

There's raw talent and I actually think there has been more athleticism on the bench than has been on the floor most nights this year. If that translates to toughness, I'll take that.
I've had a chance to get to know Hutton a little bit. That's a tough kid. He plays with attitude. I like Wagner's toughness as well. He needs to get more familiar with what he can and can't do around opposing PFs but that will come with playing time. The rest I'm not so sure about.

So I know that Hutton can dunk and play defense. Any other insight on him?

It's so weird how they all of a sudden can't score in the last 4 minutes of the game. I just don't get it. It's not Fran's fault if the players can't make a couple of friggin baskets.

He plays with an attitude. He plays defense like it's personal. Very athletic. He works hard on his game. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the PTL this summer to see how his jump shot has improved.

I'm excited about him too. Our team isn't going to look very iowa like for the next couple years.

Thought I heard a stat that 23 conference wins in back-2-back years is the most since Tom Davis's first 2 years with Raveling's guys. That's a long time ago fellas.

In 6 seasons Fran's teams have won in every opposing gym except Maryland (0-1). We broke droughts at MSU & Purdue this year.

We should be making our 3 NCAA appearance in 4 years with the other being an NIT runner up.

Interesting the lack of perspective our fan base has and the negativity a February losing streak can bring.

Sorry, but this thread title reminds me of most Cubs' fans.

And how has that worked out for ya since 1908?

The Cubs are undefeated vs the Cards in the Playoffs all time......at least we go that going for us. ;)

Really? I mean seriously, really? How many times have we all yelled "call a timeout!" "Set something up"! Good coaches can set up plays, calm his team down, and help them get to the finish line. Now at the very end of the game, AFTER A TIMEOUT WAS FINALLY CALLED in the final seconds we got the shot we wanted and it didn't go down. But over and over we see timeouts left on the board and just awful offensive sets and shot selection at the end of these loses. Some of the blame absolutely has to go on Fran. Yes he dug us out of the dark ages, and I'm thankful for that, but he needs to learn how to coach a game late with so much on the line.

Really? I mean seriously, really? How many times have we all yelled "make a damn layup!" "make a free throw"!

Missed free throws and missed layups cost them these game, not calling timeouts to "set something up".

What I don't want to hear next year is that were are 'young and inexperienced'. Every team we played this year had 'young and inexperienced' players against us. We started 4 seniors and 1 junior all season so had the most experience team in the league. A lot of people on here are unhappy with that group now. So it is either veterans or inexperienced, which do you want?

We want experienced players who are clutch. Hell they don't even have to be clutch. Just don't be so unclutch.

The free throws I'll give you. There is a reason we are so tight at the end of games. I don't know what it is. Maybe you are right, maybe calling timeout and going into the huddle with a maniac won't loosen them up any. After chatting with people the past couple of days, I've backed off a little on the timeout thing, but something needs to change. I just know the end of game sets are awful. The one exception to the very end of the Indiana game where there was a timeout and we got a wide open look....that of course we missed.

Those times we are standing around not moving would be a good timeout. But even if he does and we miraculously score, our defense would just break down next possession anyway. It's like buying 2 lottery tickets instead of 1. It increases your chances of winning, but does it really matter?

I'm always looking forward to next year's teams. I find it interesting to see how players grow and mature. Also, the different combinations that Fran puts on the floor.

Really looking forward to seeing Cook play. How will Peter respond to being "the man"? Will it work to have no true post player? (I think it will) I wanna see what Hutton can do. How about Bohannon?

I think it's gonna be a fun season.

We can have offensive lineups like Bohannon, Fleming or Moss, Jok, Jones, and Uhl. Or power front courts like Cook, Wagner, and Hutton. So many more possibilities than this year with 5 guys, then the rest.

Doesn't seem to bother Ohio State or Indiana who play Freshman.....actually I think they come in with something to prove. .look at Baer. Hardest playing dude on our team....imho

I actually am looking forward to next year as well. Ahmad Wagner and Williams against Indiana shows some promise, and Peter jok could be an all American candidate.

Iowa isn't going to win 25 games next year, but there are plenty of athletes on that roster to be competitive, not to mention Tyler cook possibly contributing from day 1.

Love ideas seniors, but I'm burned out of the 4 years of consistently inconsistent play of gessell, Woodbury and Clemmons.

Is this the next generation of Iowa fans? The sons and daughters of those who drove Lute Olsen out of the fishbowl. I get just as worked up bit so called fans that post the Hawks won't win another game? What's their motivation? Do they want their team to lose

Love it when the OG's speak some truth up in here.
